Leicester City have hit a rough patch, losing three of their last four Championship matches and dropping to 13th place, now sitting six points outside the playoff positions. 

They closed out 2025 with a narrow 2-1 home win over Derby County, scoring twice in the first half through Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jordan James. That match was low on chances, ending with 45% possession, a 0.68–0.67 xG split and just 2–2 shots on target. 

Earlier this week, the Foxes were comfortably beaten 3-1 away at Bramall Lane by Sheffield United, conceding three unanswered goals before James grabbed a stoppage-time consolation. Martí Cifuentes’ side managed just one shot on target and posted a worrying 0.21 xG. 

West Brom’s Away Struggles Continue 


West Bromwich Albion enter this round in similarly poor form, having lost three of their last four league games and sitting 18th in the table with 31 points after 25 rounds. Their biggest issue remains performances on the road, where they have lost 10 of 13 matches this season. 

The Baggies did finish the year on a positive note at home, edging QPR 2-1 while allowing just one shot on target and 0.14 xG. George Campbell and Nathaniel Phillips were both on the scoresheet in a controlled display. 

However, those defensive standards failed to travel earlier this week, as West Brom fell to a 1-0 defeat at Swansea despite creating the better chances. They ended the match with a 1.06–0.67 xG advantage but were once again punished for their inefficiency away from home.
