Lille take on PSG in a Ligue 1 showdown where high-scoring encounters are the norm. PSG have struggled defensively, failing to keep a clean sheet in their last three matches and conceding in their last five visits to Lille. BTTS (Both Teams To Score) has occurred in Lille's past five home meetings with PSG, with over 3.5 goals seen frequently. Both clubs feature attacking talent and changes in their lineups, making another goal-fest likely. Expect an entertaining, open match with Both Teams To Score and over 3.5 goals strong possibilities.

Lille have enough weapons to score at home, especially with PSG yet to keep a clean sheet this season. These clubs frequently go over 3.5 goals which can continue on Friday.

Key Stats

  • Lille have seen BTTS in their last 5 home matches against PSG.
  • PSG have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches against Lille.
  • PSG have seen over 3.5 goals in 6 of their last 9 matches against Lille.

HTH - Lille's Last Win in 2021

PSG have won eight of their previous ten encounters against Lille, leading the HTH 47-32 alongside 27 draws.

New Era for Lille

Lille began the season with Davide Ancelotti in charge after Bruno Genesio left to join Marseille. The Italian left his role as the Brazilian assistant manager under his father Carlo.

Les Dogues had some luck in their opener at Angers, coming away with a 2-0 victory. They had 43% possession, 11-20 shots and 1.24-1.99 xG, 39-year-old Olivier Giroud opening the scoring.

No Clean Sheets for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain started the new campaign by claiming the UEFA Super Cup. Désiré Doué assisted Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and scored to secure a 2-1 win against Aston Villa, ending with 1.58-2.49 xG in Salzburg.

The Parisians kept it tighter at Lens in the French Super Cup but couldn’t capitalise on 69% possession and 23-8 shots. They played against 10 men for over 40 minutes but suffered a 1-0 defeat.

Luis Enrique’s side began their Ligue 1 title defence with a 2-2 draw at Rennes. Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Ferran Torres came off the bench to score two late goals, both assisted by Fabián Ruiz.

Enrique was pleased with the impact of his substitutes: "Today was more difficult than usual. In the first half, there were situations we weren't able to control."

"Rennes launched some top-class counter-attacks, and they managed to score two goals with great precision. It was very complicated, very difficult. We tried to make some changes, and I’m particularly pleased with the five players who came on during the match."

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Lille (4-2-3-1) Berke Ozer; Tiago Santos, Nathan Ngoy, Alexsandro Ribeiro, Romain Perraud; Ngal’ayel Mukau, Nabil Bentaleb; Ethan Mbappé, Hákon Haraldsson, Basar Onal; Olivier Giroud

Hamza Igamane remains out with a cruciate ligament injury. Star striker Matias Fernandez-Pardo is available after suspension but has been linked to Arsenal, Newcastle and Leipzig.

Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi didn’t feature in Angers, the 18-year-old set to sign for Manchester City.

PSG (4-2-3-1) Matvey Safonov; Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Lucas Digne; João Neves, Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz; Désiré Doué, Ferran Torres, Mika Godts

Fabián Ruiz could replace Warren Zaire-Emery in midfield. Nuno Mendes continues to serve a suspension with Lucas Hernández and Lucas Digne competing to start at left-back.

New signings Mika Godts and Ferran Torres are close to earning a starting spot which would see Enrique shuffle his attack.

Matvey Safonov had a poor game in Rennes and is under pressure from Lucas Chevalier. Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are likely to miss out as they negotiate with other clubs.

Verdict

PSG haven’t kept a clean sheet in three matches and conceded in their previous five games in Lille. BTTS is my best bet here with over 3.5 goals a strong possibility.
