Morocco continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after opening their warm-up schedule with a convincing win over Burundi, stretching their unbeaten streak to 22 matches.

Madagascar arrive in decent form themselves, unbeaten in three games and winning two of those. However, the Atlas Lions boast significantly greater quality across the pitch and should have enough attacking firepower to make this an entertaining, high-scoring contest.

Key Stats

  • Morocco’s last two friendlies have produced over 2.5 goals.
  • The Atlas Lions have scored at least three goals in each of their last three matches against East African opposition.
  • Four of Madagascar’s last six matches have featured over 2.5 goals.
  • Madagascar have conceded two or more goals in two of their last three away fixtures.

First-Ever Meeting

This will be the first senior international meeting between Morocco and Madagascar, with the two sides set to face off for the first time in Rabat.

Atlas Lions Chasing More Goals

Morocco head into their second World Cup warm-up match brimming with confidence after a commanding 5-0 victory over Burundi. Ayoub El Kaabi and Tawfik Bentayeb both grabbed braces as the Atlas Lions showcased their attacking quality.

That result extended Morocco’s unbeaten run to 22 matches and maintained their remarkable home record, with the Atlas Lions unbeaten on their own turf for nearly 17 years.

Mohamed Ouahbi’s side have won seven of their last 10 matches, while four of their previous five friendlies against African opposition have produced at least three goals, making another high-scoring encounter a strong possibility.

High-Flying Barea Face Stern Test

Madagascar may not be one of Africa’s traditional football powerhouses, but the Barea have made significant strides in recent years. They narrowly missed out on a place at the 2026 World Cup, finishing second in their qualifying group behind Ghana and ahead of both Mali and Comoros.

The visitors have lost just once in their last seven matches, winning five of those outings while finding the net in each fixture. Four of those games produced over 2.5 goals, highlighting their attacking threat.

Madagascar head into this clash on a three-match unbeaten run, most recently drawing 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea after Rayan Raveloson struck a second-half equaliser. However, a trip to face Morocco represents their toughest challenge in some time.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Morocco (4-2-3-1): Munir El Kajoui; Zakaria El Ouahdi, Issa Diop, Redouane Halhal, Youssef Belammari; Ayyoub Bouaddi, Neil El Aynaoui; Azzadine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, Ismael Saibari; Ayoub El Kaabi.

Morocco's World Cup-bound stars have begun arriving in camp after Mohamed Ouahbi named his final 26-man squad for the tournament.

However, this friendly may come too soon for the likes of Brahim Diaz and Noussair Mazraoui. Ayoub El Kaabi is expected to lead the attack, while Munir El Kajoui could keep his place in goal. Zakaria El Ouahdi and Youssef Belammari are also likely to feature in defence.

Madagascar (4-3-3): Geordan Dupire; Radoniaina Rabemanantsoa, Ehsan Kari, Sandro Tremoulet, Morgan Jean-Pierre; Rayan Raveloson, Marco Ilaimaharitra, Clement Couturier; Arnaud Randrianantenaina, Warren Caddy, El Hadary Raheriniaina.

Madagascar are expected to start Geordan Dupire in goal, with Ehsan Kari and Morgan Jean-Pierre anchoring the backline. Rayan Raveloson should partner Marco Ilaimaharitra and Clément Couturier in midfield, while Warren Caddy is set to spearhead the attack.

Verdict

Morocco have been in excellent form and will be keen to preserve their remarkable home record. The Atlas Lions are unbeaten in 22 matches, while four of their last five friendlies against African opposition have produced at least three goals.

Madagascar have also shown an attacking edge, with four of their last seven matches featuring over 2.5 goals. With both teams capable of finding the net, another high-scoring contest looks likely.
