Braga are very hard to beat and even more so at home. Sporting CP’s defence has been suspect and with some key players coming back late from South America, a draw is on the cards.

Braga Hard to Beat

Braga went unbeaten in their opening nine games this season. Six of those came in the Conference League qualifiers where they didn’t concede a goal.

The Warriors suffered their first defeat at Estrela da Amadora. Gabri Martínez opened the scoring in the 5th minute but they couldn’t close it out, losing 2-1 in a close contest.

Jonas Wind scored a late goal as Carlos Vicens’ side beat Estoril 1-0. Braga drew 0-0 at Santa Clara before the international break, ending with 0.74-1.24 xG in the Azores.

Clean Sheets Rare for Sporting

Sporting are yet to lose in eight games this season and went on a five match winning run. They have had some defensive issues, conceding nine goals and keeping only two clean sheets.

The Lions fell behind early against Galatasaray in their only clash in the Champions League. They turned it around in style with Geny Catamo, Luis Suárez and Rodrigo Zalazar scoring to secure a 3-1 victory.

Suárez converted a late penalty at Famalicão and the hosts were reduced to 10 men, Gonçalo Inácio’s added time own goal seeing the contest end in a 1-1 draw.

Rui Borges’ side threw away another lead before the international break, drawing 2-2 against Arouca. Goals to Inácio and Suárez scored to establish a 2-0 lead before Zeno Debast was sent off, Sporting unable to hold on in Lisbon.
