H2H - Blades on a Long Unbeaten Run

Sheffield United have a 52-48 advantage against Sheffield Wednesday, alongside 47 draws.

Sheffield United Are a Strong Home Team

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United are one of the most in-form home sides in the Championship. The Blades have taken nine of their last 12 points from home victories.

United won 3-1 in consecutive home games against Oxford and Ipswich. Wilder’s side had over 1 XG in both fixtures and attempted 27 total shots.

The Yorkshire outfit then lost 2-1 at home against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough, despite having 1.11 XG.

The Blades hit back after that defeat and beat Portsmouth 1-0 away. Andre Brooks scored a 90th-minute winner and United had 1.49 XG.

Sheffield Wednesday Lack Attacking Quality

Sheffield Wednesday have the lowest XG for and the highest XG against in the Championship this season. They have also scored just 19 goals in 32 fixtures.

The Owls’ nightmare season has continued following nine consecutive losses. The Championship’s bottom side have scored once in this period and lost four away matches.

Henrik Pedersen’s team lost 2-1 at home against Millwall last time out. Sheffield Wednesday allowed 3.04 XG, had 33% possession and Jamal Lowe’s second-half goal wasn’t enough to prevent defeat.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Sheffield United (4-2-3-1): Michael Cooper; Femi Seriki, Japhet Tanganga, Tyler Bindon, Harrison Burrows; Sydie Peck, Kalvin Phillips; Andre Brooks, Callum O'Hare, Gustavo Hamer; Patrick Bamford

Midfielder Joe Rothwell is suspended. Defender Sam McCallum and midfielders Jamie Shackleton and Tom Davies are injured.

Jairo Riedewald has been passed fit to feature against Sheffield Wednesday. Chris Wilder confirmed the midfielder’s availability for Sunday and said, “Jairo's back. The only players that are unavailable are Jamie Shackleton, Tom Davies, Sam McCallum and Joe Rothwell.

“So off the back of that, everybody else is available."

Sheffield Wednesday (4-2-3-1): Seny Dieng; Liam Palmer, Gabriel Otegbayo, Cole McGhee, Tayo Adaramola; Jaden Heskey, Svante Ingelsson; Charlie McNeill, Jamal Lowe, Olaf Kobacki; Jerry Yates

Defenders Di’Shon Bernard, Dominic Iorfa, Max Lowe and Ernie Weaver are injured. Midfielders Nathaniel Chalobah and Sean Fusire and attacker George Brown are also ruled out due to injury.

Goalkeepers Murphy Cooper and Pierce Charles are ruled out through injury. The Owls had to sign Seny Dieng from Middlesbrough on Friday as emergency cover in goal.

Verdict

Sheffield United have winning momentum and are likely to control this clash against unthreatening Sheffield Wednesday. A comfortable home win to nil is predicted in the Championship.
