How FC Barcelona’s 2026 transfer window is reshaping Hansi Flick’s squad

Barcelona have made significant changes to Hansi Flick’s squad during the 2026 summer transfer window, with Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Rodri among the headline arrivals.
Gordon became Barça’s first signing for the 2026/27 season when he joined from Newcastle United on 29 May, signing a contract through to 2031.
Karim Adeyemi followed in July, moving from Borussia Dortmund and also signing until 2031. The Germany international can operate on either wing or through the middle, giving Flick another option across the front line.

The Gordon and Adeyemi deals form part of a wider overhaul rather than an isolated reshaping of Barcelona’s attack.
Ferran Torres has left for Paris Saint-Germain after four-and-a-half seasons at the club, while Ronald Araújo has joined Liverpool on loan until June 2027.
Barcelona have also strengthened elsewhere. Spain midfielder Rodri recently completed a permanent transfer from Manchester City and has signed until 2030, while João Cancelo has signed from Al Hilal on a deal running until 2029.
There remains considerable experience and depth in defence despite Araújo’s departure.
Last month saw Andreas Christensen extend his contract until 2028, while Pau Cubarsí has further strengthened his reputation after an outstanding World Cup. The 19-year-old started all eight of Spain’s matches as they won the 2026 World Cup and was subsequently named the tournament’s FIFA Young Player Award winner.
For Flick, the result is a substantially different squad heading into the 2026/27 campaign. Gordon and Adeyemi add new options in attack, Rodri strengthens the midfield and Cancelo provides further experience at full-back, while several established players have moved on.
Barcelona entered the summer as reigning La Liga champions, but their transfer business suggests the focus has been on refreshing the squad rather than simply retaining the group that delivered last season’s title.
