Tottenham Remain Unconvincing

Thomas Frank’s Tottenham have struggled in the Premier League recently. The North Londoners have taken just five points from their last seven matches.

Spurs failed to win in five consecutive matches from November to December, losing three. They ended that spell with a 2-0 home win against Brentford.

Tottenham’s inconsistency continued with a 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest. Spurs conceded early, were outplayed with 0.33-2.31 XG and let in two goals after half time.

Liverpool Are Improving

Liverpool have tightened up in recent matches and are on a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Reds’ upturn in form started with a 2-0 win at West Ham. Draws against Sunderland 1-1 and Leeds 3-3 followed before a 1-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan.

Arne Slot’s side continued their momentum on Saturday by beating Brighton 2-0 at home. Hugo Ekitike scored twice as Liverpool had 18 shots and 1.89 XG.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Guglielmo Vicario; Pedro Porro, Christian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Djed Spence; Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha; Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Richarlison; Randal Kolo Muani

Midfield duo Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are on international duty.

Defenders Destiny Udogie, Radu Dragusin and Kota Takai are injured.

Midfielders Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are also out with injuries.

Dominic Solanke remains sidelined due to an ankle injury. Thomas Frank explained that the striker has stepped up his recovery and said, “He is back on the grass and training individually. The injury he picked up in July, it has dragged on for a while.”

Liverpool (4-3-2-1): Alisson; Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones; Federico Chiesa, Alexis Mac Allister, Florian Wirtz; Hugo Ekitike

Forward Mohamed Salah is away on AFCON duty and won’t feature.

Defenders Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni and midfielder Wataru Endo are injured.

Winger Cody Gakpo is ruled out through injury.

Dominik Szoboszlai picked up an injury against Brighton and is an injury doubt. Arne Slot updated on the midfielder’s condition pre-match and said, “That completely depends on how well he does today and then we speak to the player and the medical staff. If the player feels comfortable and does all the things he needs to do, then he will start."

Verdict

Tottenham are lacking cohesion and have had some big recent defeats. Liverpool are on the up and can seal another Premier League win.
