Nottingham Forest Improving in Attack

Nottingham Forest were the joint-highest scoring home team in the Europa League group stage. The Tricky Trees scored 11 league phase goals at the City Ground and ended the league phase with a 4-0 home win over Ferencvaros.

Forest have created plenty of chances over their last three matches, starting with 2.55 XG in a 0-0 draw with Wolves. Vítor Pereira then took charge of his first game and led Forest to a 3-0 win at Fenerbahce, where Forest had 2.73 XG.

The Midlands outfit were unfortunate to lose 1-0 at home against Liverpool on Sunday. Pereira’s side had 1.19 XG and 18 shots before conceding a 97th-minute winner.

Fenerbahce Are Leaky

Fenerbahce’s European form has tailed off after a three-match winless run, including two defeats.

This downturn in form started with a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa and a 1-1 draw at FCSB. The Yellow and Blues allowed over 1.69 XG and 1.77 XG in those games.

The Turkish side struggled once again in a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Thursday. Domenico Tedesco’s side conceded three in 50 minutes and faced 23 shots.

Fenerbahce were then held to a 1-1 Super Lig draw against Kasimpasa at home. They allowed 1.1 XG and Marco Asensio struck in the 95th minute before Kasimpasa levelled later in injury time.

Chris Wood is also recovering from a knee injury. Vitor Pereira was hopeful over the striker’s return in the next few weeks and said, “I hope so. He is recovering. I hope so because he is important for us.”
