Alexander Zverev and Cameron Norrie are set to face off in a thrilling Australian Open matchup. While Zverev has impressive stats, winning 56 of his last 61 matches, Norrie has consistently played long, competitive matches, evidenced by his recent record of 4+ sets in eight out of his last nine games at the event. This encounter is set to be another nail-biter, predicting over 37.5 games and a potential tie break in the first set. Both players have strengths to bring to the table, making for an exciting game.

Alexander Zverev has won both matches in 4 sets in Melbourne and Cameron Norrie is regularly involved in long matches.

I don’t think this will be easy for Zverev, this one backed to go over 37.5 games.

Zverev Third Seed in Melbourne

Alexander Zverev was consistent last year and never dropped out of the Top 3. He won the title in Munich alongside final defeats at the Australian Open, Stuttgart and Vienna.

The German went 4-11 against Top 10 players, losing against Jannik Sinner four times and once to Carlos Alcaraz.

Zverev got past Gabriel Diallo 6-7 6-1 6-4 6-2 in the first round in Melbourne. He saved 5/8 break points to Alexandre Muller in the second round, coming through 6-3 4-6 6-3 6-4 in over three hours.

Norrie Close to a Top 20 Spot

Cameron Norrie dropped as low as World No.91 in April. He lost to Novak Djokovic in the Geneva semi-finals and Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

The 30-year-old beat Alcaraz at the Paris Masters, reached the final in Metz is on the cusp of breaking back into the Top 20.

The Brit showed some mixed form in two warm up events for the Australian Open. He beat Ugo Humbert in Brisbane before going out to Aleksandar Kovacevic, then lost 4-6 6-3 7-6 to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the second round in Auckland.

Norrie is often involved in long matches and that has continued in Melbourne. He came back to beat Benjamin Bonzi in 5 sets before a 6-1 7-6 4-6 7-6 victory over Emilio Nava.

Verdict

Cameron Norrie has gone 4+ sets in eight of his previous nine matches at the Australian Open. These players went the distance in Melbourne two years ago, another long match on the cards here.
