Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Mboko are set to face each other in the Indian Wells quarterfinal. Sabalenka, currently ranked world No.1, boasts a phenomenal record in WTA 1000 quarterfinals, having won 19 out of 30 such matches in her career. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Victoria Mboko, who has taken the women's tennis circuit by storm, enters the quarterfinals with a solid 4-1 quarterfinal record, defeating world No.6 Anisimova to get here. While Sabalenka's experience suggests she might edge the encounter, Mboko's recent form makes it a highly anticipated clash.

Sabalenka Maintains Winning Surge

Aryna Sabalenka reached the quarterfinal after defeating Naomi Osaka 6-2 6-4 in straight sets. It marks her 14th consecutive quarterfinal appearance since her early exit in Dubai last year.

Since the start of 2025, Sabalenka has played 15 quarterfinals and won 13 of them, including one walkover. Her only losses at this stage came against Qinwen Zheng in Rome and Elena Rybakina in Cincinnati.

The world No.1 has won 14 of her 15 matches this season, with every victory coming in straight sets. Remarkably, in 13 of those wins she did not allow more than seven games.

Sabalenka has now played 30 quarterfinals at WTA 1000 events in her career, winning 19 of them, most recently reaching the semifinal in Wuhan.

Mboko Storms into Quarterfinal on Debut

Victoria Mboko defeated world No.6 Amanda Anisimova 6-4 6-1 to reach the quarterfinal in Indian Wells. She saved the only break point she faced and converted all four chances she created.

This marks her third consecutive win over a top-10 player and her fourth in 2026 from six matches against the group, highlighting her rapid rise in recent months.

Mboko also becomes the third teenager to reach the Indian Wells quarterfinal on debut since 2010, following Bianca Andreescu in 2019 and Daria Kasatkina in 2016.

She holds a 4-1 record in quarterfinal matches on tour and has won both of her WTA 1000 quarterfinals so far, in Doha this year and Montreal. Her only loss at this stage came against Elena Rybakina in Tokyo last year.
