Emma Navarro and Elena-Gabriela Ruse meet in the Bad Homburg quarterfinals, both riding the momentum of major upsets. Navarro dispatched Iga Swiatek in three sets, marking her fourth straight quarterfinal here, while Ruse continues a strong qualifying run with a win over Anna Kalinskaya. Given Navarro's superior head-to-head record (3-0), and experience in high-pressure matches, she is tipped as the favorite to progress. Navarro’s recent form, with a Strasbourg title and a Nottingham final, bolsters her prospects.

Emma Navarro secured her place in the Bad Homburg quarterfinals with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 victory over Iga Swiatek. The American was broken four times but converted four of the seven break points she created to seal one of her biggest wins of the season.

This is Navarro's fourth consecutive quarterfinal in Bad Homburg. She reached the semifinals in 2023 and 2024 before her run ended in the quarterfinals against Jessica Pegula last year.

The American endured a difficult stretch earlier this season. Between the Australian Open and the WTA 125 event in Paris, she won only three matches across nine tournaments.

Her results have improved in recent weeks with a title in Strasbourg and a runner-up finish in Nottingham. Those performances have moved her close to a return to the top 20 in the rankings.

Navarro holds a 12-12 record in tour-level quarterfinals. On grass, she is 3-3 at this stage.

Ruse Continues Impressive Qualifying Run

Elena-Gabriela Ruse moved into the Bad Homburg quarterfinals with another upset, defeating Anna Kalinskaya 7-5, 6-2 in the second round. It was her fourth win of the week after coming through qualifying, having also beaten Linda Noskova in the opening round.

This is the fourth grass-court quarterfinal of Ruse's career. She lost two of her previous three at this stage, including last week in 's-Hertogenbosch. Her best result on grass remains the runner-up finish in 's-Hertogenbosch last year.

Before the grass season, Ruse struggled for consistency. She recorded multiple main-draw wins at only two of her first 11 tournaments, reaching the third round at the Australian Open and the semifinals in Linz.

Ruse holds a 6-3 record in tour-level quarterfinals and has won three of her last four matches at this stage.
