Anastasia Potapova and Anna Kalinskaya are set for a competitive clash in the French Open fourth round. Potapova is in superb clay-court form, boasting 17 wins on the surface this season and having just eliminated defending champion Coco Gauff. Kalinskaya, while leading 2-0 in their head-to-head, hasn't found her best success on clay and has been less consistent overall. With her recent surge and favorable surface, Potapova is favored to advance, though Kalinskaya remains a dangerous opponent.

Potapova arrives with plenty of confidence and is performing at a very high level, whereas clay has never been Kalinskaya’s most productive surface, which gives Potapova the advantage.

Potapova Stuns Defending Champion Gauff

Anastasia Potapova moved into the fourth round at the French Open after eliminating defending champion Coco Gauff, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. She trailed by a break in the deciding set before turning the match around and completing the comeback.

This is Potapova's second fourth-round appearance at Roland Garros. Her previous run came in 2023 when she lost to Iga Swiatek in straight sets. It also remains her only previous Round of 16 appearance at a Grand Slam.

The Russian has been one of the form players on clay this season, winning 17 of her 21 matches on the surface. Her results include a final in Linz, a semifinal in Madrid and a fourth-round appearance in Rome.

The turnaround has been remarkable considering her difficult start to the year. Potapova struggled for wins during the opening three months of the season and came close to falling outside the Top 100. With her recent clay-court results, she is now closing in on her career-high ranking of No. 21.

Kalinskaya Keeps Paris Run Going

Anna Kalinskaya moved into the fourth round after defeating Camila Osorio in three sets, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2. She dropped serve four times but broke her opponent five times to come through the match.

Her path to the fourth round has been relatively comfortable compared to many others in the draw. She opened against returning injury-hit Lois Boisson, then faced inexperienced youngster Alina Korneeva before meeting Osorio in the third round.

The Russian has struggled for consistency this season, failing to win multiple matches in six of the ten tournaments she entered before Paris. However, her clay-court results were more encouraging, highlighted by a quarterfinal run in Charleston and a fourth-round appearance in Rome.

This is Kalinskaya's best result at Roland Garros. She had won only one main-draw match across her previous four appearances here. She heads into the Round of 16 with a 1-1 record at this stage in Grand Slams, losing at Wimbledon in 2024 and reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open in the same season.
