Swiatek Chasing Fifth Paris Title
Iga Swiatek reached the semifinals in Rome a few weeks ago, where she produced dominant wins over Naomi Osaka and Jessica Pegula before losing to Elina Svitolina in three sets.
Despite the defeat, the run in Rome was still an encouraging sign for Swiatek. It marked her first semifinal appearance in the last eight months, and before that tournament she had gone through three consecutive events without recording back-to-back wins.
The Pole has struggled to close out matches consistently this season, something reflected in several surprising results. She suffered her first opening-round loss in more than four years in Miami and has also faced difficulties maintaining her physical level throughout long matches.
