Tatjana Maria Keeps Winning in Eastbourne
Tatjana Maria moved into the semifinals after defeating Czech teenager Tereza Valentova 6-3, 7-5. The German fired eight aces and broke serve four times during the match.
This is the fifth tour-level grass-court semifinal of Maria's career. She won two of her previous four and converted both into titles, lifting the trophies in Mallorca in 2018 and Queen's Club in 2025.
The 38-year-old endured a difficult start to the season, winning only two main-draw matches during the first three months. Before the grass swing, her only multiple-win run at tour level came with a semifinal appearance in Rouen.
Maria was ranked around the top 50 before the grass season began, but failing to defend her Queen's Club title dropped her outside the top 100. She has since reached the quarterfinals in Nottingham and is now through to another semifinal.
She holds a 4-7 record in tour-level semifinals. On grass, she has won two of her four semifinal matches.

Ostapenko Continues Dominant Run in Eastbourne
Jelena Ostapenko moved into the Eastbourne semifinals after defeating Zeynep Sonmez in dominant fashion, 6-3, 6-0. The Latvian fired nine aces and dropped serve only once during the match.
Apart from dropping one set to Panna Udvardy in the second round, Ostapenko has dominated the rest of the tournament. She has not lost more than three games in any of her other six sets this week.
This is Ostapenko's third semifinal in Eastbourne. She won both of her previous semifinals here, going on to lift the title in 2021 and finish runner-up in 2022.
The Latvian lost her top-30 ranking after an opening-round defeat during her Stuttgart title defence. Before the grass season, she recorded multiple main-draw wins at only three of her 13 tournaments, reaching the semifinals in Doha, the fourth round in Miami, and the quarterfinals in Rome.
Ostapenko holds an 18-11 record in tour-level semifinals, winning five of her last six. On grass, she owns a 3-1 semifinal record and has won each of her last three matches at this stage.
