Etcheverry will aim to avoid back-to-back semifinal defeats after falling at this stage in Buenos Aires last week to eventual champion Francisco Cerundolo.

Kopriva’s Dream Debut

This has turned into a very pleasant debut campaign in Rio de Janeiro for Vit Kopriva, who has reached the semifinals without dropping a set. 

The Czech player has enjoyed a strong Golden Swing so far. He reached the semifinals in Buenos Aires last week and has now backed it up by pushing even deeper here, breaking through to another tour-level semifinal. 

This marks only the second semifinal of his career at this level. His previous run to this stage came several years ago, where he was comfortably beaten by Casper Ruud.
