Aberdeen vs Celtic Live Stream & Tips - Celtic to Claim Crucial Premiership Points

Celtic head into their Premiership clash against Aberdeen with a strong record, having won 14 of their last 16 encounters. Celtic's confidence is boosted by a recent spirited comeback against Rangers at Ibrox, demonstrating their resilience. Meanwhile, Aberdeen faces ongoing challenges, evidenced by a lackluster performance against Hearts and a poor home record. A win for Celtic, who showed an impressive xG in their last game, seems plausible. Current injuries and potential line-up changes for both teams factor into the predictions for the game.

Aberdeen vs Celtic Predictions

Celtic know only a win will do as they look to close the gap on Premiership leaders Hearts. An away win with over 1.5 goals is likely to prove a solid choice at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen Struggles Continue

  • Aberdeen lost 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Aberdeen conceded 2+ goals in 8 of their last 10 defeats
  • Celtic won 14 of their last 16 matches against Aberdeen (Premiership)
  • Celtic scored 2+ goals in 5 of their last 6 away matches

Celtic Hold Dominant H2H Advantage Against Aberdeen

Aberdeen and Celtic have met on 25 occasions since 2020. Celtic won 20 of those games. Aberdeen's only success came in the final of last season's Scottish Cup.

Dons Down in the Dumps

Aberdeen come into Wednesday's Premiership contest after a limp display in their 1-0 defeat at league leaders Hearts last weekend. The out-of-sorts Dons offered little in attacking quality, with no clear-cut chances created, resulting in an xG tally of just 0.34.

Peter Leven's side have now failed to win each of their last five Premiership contests, with only one point picked up in that period.

All but out of contention to finish in the top six, Aberdeen sit eighth in the division, only eight points above the relegation playoff spot.

A poor home record has proven to be the Dons' undoing this season. Leven's side lost five and won just four of 13 home league fixtures.

Celtic Secure Point at Ibrox

Celtic head north after a stirring fightback in Sunday's Old Firm derby. Trailing by two after a desperately poor first half, the Bhoys demonstrated their fighting spirit with goals from Kieran Tierney and Reo Hatate, rescuing a 2-2 draw.

In what was the proverbial game of two halves in Glasgow, the Hoops registered an impressive 2.24 xG, with six big chances created on the day. Celtic have now scored two goals or more in seven of their last eight domestic encounters.

Martin O'Neill's side have performed well in recent away fixtures, with a 1-0 win in Germany against Stuttgart, and a 3-2 comeback victory against Kilmarnock.

With nine games still to play in a four-way Scottish Premiership title race, Celtic sit third in the division, eight points behind Hearts, but with this fixture in hand

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Aberdeen (4-2-3-1) Dimitar Mitov; Nicky Devlin, Jack Milne, Liam Morrison, Gavin Molloy; Sivert Nilsen, Dennis Geiger; Toyosi Olusanya, Lyall Cameron, Topi Keskinen; Kevin Nisbet

Interim boss Leven has four expected absentees for Wednesday's rescheduled Premiership fixture. Kristers Tobers, Mats Knoester, Nicholas Suman and Tom McIntyre are likely to remain sidelined.

Speaking after the match, Aberdeen interim manager Peter Leven delivered a blunt assessment of his side's performance.

“We lacked a wee bit of quality in the final third. Too many shots getting blocked; it never caused them enough problems. Second half a bit better, but nowhere near good enough.

“We've got to fight and scrap for every point now. We're not in an ideal situation. We need to pick them up.”

Celtic (4-3-3) Viljami Sinisalo; Julian Araujo, Dane Murray, Liam Scales, Marcello Saracchi; Benjamin Nygren, Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate; Sebastian Tounekti, Tomas Cvancara, Daizen Maeda.

Martin O'Neill is set to make at least a couple of changes to his first XI this week. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Junior Adamu are both set to drop out, with Reo Hatate and Sebastian Tounekti set for recalls to the starting lineup.

Speaking after the draw at Ibrox, the veteran boss, who turned 74 on Sunday, remained upbeat about his side's chances of retaining the Premiership title.

"It helps to fight back at Ibrox from a 2-0 deficit. We could and should have won the game, and that gives you enormous ambition to drive on.

"We're still giving ourselves a chance in this title race. If you were in Hearts' position, a draw is a very good result. Motherwell are far from out of it themselves."

Arne Engels, Alistair Johnston, Callum Osmand, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota remain sidelined with long-term injuries. Auston Trusty also misses out due to suspension.

Verdict

Celtic showed plenty of heart in their fightback at Ibrox, and that should set them in good stead for Wednesday's re-arranged Premiership clash. An away win with at least two goals is my top tip at Pittodrie.
