Al Riyadh played one pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and drew 2-2 against Qatari side Al-Gharafa. They followed that stalemate with a 4-2 Saudi Pro League defeat at Al Ettifaq, allowing 2.81 XG.

The Riyadh outfit replied with a 2-0 King’s Cup win against second-tier opponents Al Zulfi. Leandro Antunes scored a brace to secure the win.  

Al Nassr Attacking Under Ange Postecoglou


Al Nassr have won three of their six matches in all competitions since Ange Postecoglou’s appointment in July. The Global Ones have also played on the front foot under their new boss, scoring 10 goals in six games. 

Nassr got off to a winning start in their Saudi Pro League opener, beating Al Fateh 3-0 at home. Joao Felix got on the scoresheet and Postecoglou’s side had 18 shots. 

The Global Ones also cruised to a 4-1 King’s Cup victory at Al Diriyah on Tuesday. Joao Felix scored twice and Mohamed Simakan and Abdullah Al Hamdan also struck as Nassr had 1.93 XG.

Forward Cristiano Ronaldo is in contention to return for the Al Riyadh match following an extended break. Ange Postecoglou recently confirmed that the attacker is available, saying, "Ronaldo is always ready."

Verdict

Al Riyadh lack the quality to compete with a class Al Nassr side that is back to full strength. Joao Felix looks good early in the campaign and can fire the Global Ones to a high-scoring win.
