After starting the new season with four straight victories in the Europa League (eliminated Midtjylland 3-0 and Hradec Kralove 2-0 on aggregate), Besiktas also won their Super Lig opening match against Eyupspor 1-0 in mid-August.

Their first problems occurred in the second round against Alanyaspor on the road, losing this encounter 1-0 despite having higher xG 0.74-0.54, 65% possession and 6-3 shots on target.

Corum earned their historic promotion to the Super Lig earlier this summer through the playoffs, while starting the new campaign with a huge 2-2 draw against the reigning champions Galatasaray.
