Chelsea vs Man City Preview

Chelsea are out of form and have conceded a lot of goals recently. In-form Jeremy Doku looks confident and can fire Man City to an FA Cup final victory against the leaky Blues.

4 Goals in 4 for Jeremy Doku

  • Man City have won 5 consecutive FA Cup games.
  • Man City’s Jeremy Doku has scored 4 goals in his last 4 matches.
  • Chelsea have lost 8 of their last 11 games.

H2H - City Have the Recent Edge

Chelsea have a 71-69 advantage against Man City, alongside 42 draws.

Leaky Chelsea on the Downturn

Chelsea comfortably won their opening two FA Cup games against Charlton 5-1 and Hull 4-0. The Blues then need extra time to beat second-tier Wrexham 4-2 following a 2-2 draw.

Since the Wrexham draw, Chelsea have lost eight games in all competitions, including a 3-0 league defeat to Man City. Calum McFarlane’s side were on a three-match losing run before a 1-0 FA Cup semi-final victory against Leeds.

The Londoners couldn't build momentum after the Leeds cup win and lost 3-1 against Nottingham Forest. Chelsea were 2-0 down after 15 minutes and conceded a third early in the second period.

McFarlane's team held Liverpool to a 1-1 Premier League draw on Saturday. The Blues trailed after six minutes, had 0.49 XG and Enzo Fernandez's free-kick helped Chelsea to earn a point.

Man City Have Momentum for the Run-In

Pep Guardiola’s Man City have cruised into the FA Cup final with five consecutive wins and 21 goals scored. The Citizens came back to beat Southampton 2-1 in the semi-final and Jeremy Doku scored City's first goal.

That FA Cup triumph came during City's six-match winning run in all competitions. City then drew 3-3 at Everton and beat Brentford 3-0 in the Premier League, with Doku scoring three goals.

Guardiola’s side followed the Brentford victory with a comfortable 3-0 win against Crystal Palace. The Citizens had 1.66 XG, 15 shots and Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush and Savinho scored.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Robert Sanchez; Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella; Reece James, Moises Caicedo; Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Pedro Neto; Joao Pedro

Forwards Estevao and Jamie Gittens are ruled out due to injury. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez missed the Liverpool match with a head injury and is likely to return here.

Attacking pair Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho may also return for the FA Cup final. McFarlane was hopeful that the duo would recover for Saturday’s game and said, "Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho have trained well this week, so both are looking really good.

"We’re really hopeful with them as well. So, positive signs."

Man City (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Matheus Nunes, Marc Guehi, Abdukodir, Nico O'Reilly; Nico Gonzalez, Bernardo Silva; Antoine Semenyo, Rayan Cherki, Jeremy Doku; Erling Haaland

Rodri is an injury doubt for the Chelsea match. Pep Guardiola was cautious over the midfielder’s condition for the cup final and said, "We will see. We travel and we will see. No [other injuries] everyone else is fit."

Verdict

Man City have enough form and quality to defeat underperforming Chelsea in the FA Cup final. Jeremy Doku has shown his goalscoring class recently and can strike again at Wembley.
