Club America host Monterrey at Estadio Banorte in the return of Liga MX action. America are in impressive home form, with four wins in their last five on home turf, while Monterrey have struggled on the road, losing three of four away games. Recent meetings between the sides have been even, but America have won their last four home league encounters against Monterrey. America enter the match after a thrilling 4-2 win over Necaxa, whereas Monterrey are seeking a response after losing 4-2 to Atlante. The article's main conclusion is a likely home win for America with over 1.5 goals.

Club America vs Monterrey Predictions

Club America welcome Monterrey to Estadio Banorte on Saturday as Liga MX action resumes.

America have been more reliable on their own patch, and with the visitors struggling on the road, a home win looks likely.

I have my stake on Club America to win with over 1.5 match goals.

America's Home Form Points to Victory

  • Club America won 4 of their last 5 home matches (Liga MX)
  • Club America scored 2+ goals in their last 7 matches (Liga MX)
  • Club America won their last 4 home matches against Monterrey (Liga MX)
  • Monterrey lost 3 of their 4 away matches (Liga MX)
  • Monterrey conceded 2+ goals in 4 of their last 6 matches

America and Monterrey Level in Recent H2H

Club America and Monterrey have met on 19 occasions in competitive fixtures since 2020. Both teams secured seven wins, with five games finishing deadlocked after 90 minutes.

The Aguilas won each of their last four home Liga MX encounters against Monterrey.

Club America Return to Action After Henry Martin Hat-Trick

Club America return to Mexico City after an entertaining 4-2 victory at Necaxa in their last Liga MX outing.

Henry Martin scored a brilliant hat-trick while Miguel Borja was also on target as the Aguilas twice came from behind to claim a vital three points.

Both sides created plenty of chances in a thrilling contest, but America were good value for their win. The Aguilas registered more shots (21-15) and finished with a significantly higher xG (4.40 to 2.66).

That victory before the international break ended a two-match winless league run following a 4-3 defeat at Cruz Azul and a 2-2 draw against Chivas.

Guillermo Almada's side remain second in the Apertura standings, level on 20 points with leaders Toluca, but with the benefit of a game in hand.

Strong on their own patch, America picked up three wins and a draw from their first four home league games, scoring ten goals and conceding only twice.

The hosts also boast an excellent recent record against Monterrey. The Aguilas are unbeaten in nine of 11 games played since 2023. America won five of those fixtures, including a 2-1 win at this venue last year.

Monterrey Seek Response After Atlante Defeat

Monterrey travel to Mexico City after a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Atlante in their last Liga MX fixture at the end of last month.

Hugo Cuypers cancelled out Luis Puente's opener before second-half strikes from Luis Calzadilla and Eduardo Tercero restored Atlante's advantage.

Roberto de la Rosa pulled one back, but Jhojan Palacios settled the contest in stoppage time.

Rayados had opportunities to rescue a point, but another poor defensive display left Matias Almeyda's side empty-handed.

In an open encounter, Atlante were deserved winners at Estadio de la Ciudad de los Deportes. Despite having fewer shots (14-17), the hosts created more big chances (4-2) and finished with a significantly higher xG (2.60 to 1.39).

Almeyda’s side have struggled to find much consistency in their performances this season. Monterrey won seven but lost six of 16 games played since the start of July.

The Rayados' away form remains a particular concern. Monterrey have lost three of their four league games on the road, with their only victory coming at Atlas. They conceded six goals across their last two away defeats against Leon and Atlante.

Club America vs Monterrey Team News

Club America: (4-4-2) Rodolfo Cota; Dagoberto Espinoza, Emilio Lara, Miguel Vazquez, Cristian Borja; Alejandro Zendejas, Erick Sanchez, Edwin Cerrillo, Carlos Alvarez; Miguel Borja, Henry Martin.

Club America boss Almada has a strong squad to choose from this weekend. Alan Cervantes, Raphael Veiga and Luis Malagon are available again after overcoming various injury issues.

Raul Zuniga is unavailable after being deregistered for the remainder of the Apertura. Victor Davila is also absent from the registered squad.

Monterrey: (4-2-3-1) Esteban Andrada; Ricardo Chavez, Carlos Salcedo, Alonso Aceves, Gerardo Arteaga; Fidel Ambriz, Cesar Garza; Jesus Corona, Oliver Torres, Luca Orellano; Hugo Cuypers.

Matias Almeyda has a few fitness issues to deal with this weekend. Stefan Medina and Uros Djurdjevic are both likely to miss the trip to Mexico City.

Lucas Ocampos has recovered from his muscular problem and is available again.

Verdict

America have been strong at home, and they should have enough momentum to see off the Monterrey challenge this weekend.

I have my stake on Club America to win with over 1.5 goals scored at Estadio Banorte.
