DR Congo have to win to stay alive and reach the Round of 32

I am backing the Leopards to get it done with a clean sheet

Uzbekistan have been out of their depth at the World Cup, conceding eight goals in two games. Congo picked up a point off Portugal and should be too good in Atlanta.

DR Congo are facing Uzbekistan for the first time.

Congo Still Alive

Democratic Republic of Congo have been competitive at the World Cup but are yet to pick up a win. A victory here would be enough to reach the Round of 32.

Sébastien Desabre’s side were outsiders against Portugal but came away with a credible 1-1 draw. Yoane Wissa equalised on the stroke of half time as they limited Cristiano Ronaldo’s side to one shot on target.

The Leopards were second best against Colombia, hanging on until the 76th minute in a 1-0 defeat. They had 1-9 shots on target, no player registering two shots.

DR Congo Team News & Predicted Line Up

Desabre could bring Noah Sadiki into midfield for Ngal'ayel Mukau. Chancel Mbemba and Charles Pickel are a booking away from suspension.

DR Congo (5-3-2): Lionel Mpasi-Nzau; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Chancel Mbemba, Axel Tuanzebe, Steve Kapuadi, Arthur Masuaku; Noah Sadiki, Samuel Moutoussamy, Joris Kayembe; Yoane Wissa, Cedric Bakambu

Uzbekistan's Defence a Concern

Uzbekistan’s first World Cup is going to end in the group stage after two defeats.

The White Wolves lost 3-1 against Colombia in their opening game. Abbosbek Fayzullaev equalised in the 60th minute but they ended with 39% possession and 2-4 shots on target.

Fabio Cannavaro’s side were thrashed 5-0 by Portugal with the result beyond doubt at half-time. Trailing 3-0 at the break, the debutants had 0.25-2.60 xG and had no complaints.

Uzbekistan Team News & Predicted Line Up

Cannavaro could make mass changes here and give his fringe players a run out.

Uzbekistan (3-4-3): Botirali Ergashev; Avazbek Ulmasaliev, Abdukodir Khusanov, Khozhiakbar Alizhonov, Odildzhon Khamrobekov, Aziz Ganiev, Farrukh Sayfiev; Abbosbek Fayzullaev, Eldor Shomurodov, Oston Uruno

Verdict

DR Congo v Uzbekistan

DR Congo’s situation is crystal clear, win or exit the World Cup. With a spot in the Round of 32 on the line, I think the Leopards will have too much for a demoralised Uzbekistan side.
