Argentina’s performances have been great so far so even with possible rotations, I don’t expect them to face any problems against already eliminated Jordan.

This Will be their First H2H Clash

Jordan and Argentina have never locked horns so far.

Jordan Out of the Tournament

Jordan’s historic first appearance at the World Cup 2026 has not brought any success so far, with the team eliminated after losing their opening two matches and now playing for pride and their first points.

Had there been fewer mistakes in their back line, they could have caused far more problems for favored Austria in the opening round, but ultimately had to settle for a 3-1 defeat. The Asian side produced 11 shots in that game, with Ali Olwan scoring their only goal.

Jordan looked better in the second clash against Algeria, taking the lead in the 36th minute through Nizar Al Rashdan. However, they then gave up possession, focused on defending, and eventually lost 2-1.

Argentina Likely to Rotate

Argentina were among the first teams to secure 1st place in the World Cup 2026 group stage, claiming back-to-back victories in the opening two rounds.

Leo Messi delivered an outstanding performance in the opener, scoring all three goals against Algeria to secure a 3-0 victory for the reigning champions.

Messi added two more goals in the second round against Austria as Argentina claimed a 2-0 win, becoming the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history after surpassing Miroslav Klose. Scaloni’s side also dominated the match statistically, posting a 2.36-0.53 expected goals advantage and leading 5-1 in shots on target.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Jordan (3-4-2-1) Yazeed Abulaila; Abdallah Nasib, Yazan Al-Arab, Salem Al-Ajalin; Ehsan Haddad, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Noor Al-Rawabdeh, Mahmoud Al-Mardi; Mousa Al-Tamari, Ali Olwan; Yazan Al-Naimat

Jordan have no reported injuries or suspensions ahead of this match. Ali Olwan should be the biggest threat for Argentina's defense.

Argentina (4-3-3) Geronimo Rulli; Gonzalo Montiel, German Pezzella, Leonardo Balerdi, Valentin Barco; Exequiel Palacios, Leandro Paredes, Giovani Lo Celso; Lionel Messi, Angel Correa, Julian Alvarez

Scaloni is expected to rotate heavily here but not Leo Messi who will try to improve his World Cup record as the top scorer. Emiliano Martinez, Rodrigo De Paul, Alexis MacAllister and Christian Romero are likely to be rested.

Verdict

Jordan v Argentina

Argentina have already secured 1st place, but I still expect them to take this match seriously and maintain momentum ahead of the playoffs. I am backing the reigning champions to win to nil, with maestro Leo Messi finding the net once again.
