Egypt vs Nigeria Predictions, Betting Tips & Lineups | Super Eagles to Claim Third Spot at AFCON
In a gripping series of AFCON encounters, Egypt couldn't capitalize on their defensive strategy, narrowly losing to Senegal with a late goal after a lackluster offensive display. Despite their perseverance, they registered a meager 0.12 xG. Meanwhile, Nigeria's potent offense was effectively neutralized by Morocco, resulting in a goalless draw and a penalty shootout loss. Both Egypt and Nigeria face challenges ahead; however, Nigeria's impressive record in third-place play-offs offers a silver lining in their upcoming clash for bronze.

HTH - Draws Lead the Way
Nigeria first met Egypt in 1963 and now met on 19 occasions. Both teams have six wins each alongside seven draws.
They recently met in a friendly before AFCON, Egypt winning 2-1 in Cairo where Zizo assisted Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Mohamed.
Egypt’s Defensive Approach Backfires
Egypt have underwhelmed at the Africa Cup of Nations, narrowly beating Zimbabwe and South Africa in the group stage alongside a 0-0 draw against Angola.
Mohamed Salah scored in both of Pharaohs’ victories and netted again in a 3-1 extra time win over Benin.
Hossam Hassan’s side took their chances against Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals. Omar Marmoush and Salah scored in an entertaining 3-2 win as they ended with 29% possession and 6-13 shots.
Egypt’s luck ran out in the semi-finals where they lost 1-0 to Senegal. They defended deep and registered just 0.12 xG, conceding in the 78th minute and unable to find a way back.
Hassan praised his team after the defeat, saying "I am really proud of my players who really displayed good character against a tough opponent."
"I have just told my players that I am proud of them because they defended the Egyptian flag and the Egyptian people with apt of courage. Senegal played very well, and I can't take anything away from them as they played well today."

Egypt (3-4-3) Shobeir Oufa; Yasser Ibrahim, Khaled Sobhi, Ramy Rabia; Mohamed Hany, Marwan Attia, Hamdy Fathy, Trezeguet; Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Zizo
Mohamed Hamdy suffered an ACL rupture against Benin with Ahmed Abou El Fotouh to continue at left-back.

Nigeria's Attack Blunted in the Semi-Finals
Nigeria won their first five matches at AFCON, scoring 2+ goals in each victory. They conceded in every group stage game but still managed to get it done, Ademola Lookman leading the way with two goals and two assists.
Confidence was high after Eric Chelle’s side thrashed Mozambique 4-0 in Fez. They had 2.82-0.10 xG with their front three on fire, Lookman and Akor Adams scoring twice and Victor Osimhen bagging a brace.
Osimhen opened the scoring against Algeria in the quarter-finals as Nigeria eased to a 2-0 victory. Adams found the net again as they ended with 3.36-0.13 xG.
The Super Eagles met their match in the semi-finals where they were completely shut down by Morocco. They could only manage two shots in 120 minutes of action, the game ending 0-0 before losing the penalty shootout.
Chelle had no excuses after the match, saying: "Morocco deserved this victory. Everyone was saying that what I said yesterday in the press conference was bluffing or a lie, but I know my team."
"This match wasn't easy for us. It's crazy we worked a lot on it, penalty taking, during all of the training sessions but this is football; we have to accept that and continue to work."
Nigeria Predicted Line Up & Team News
Nigeria (4-2-3-1) Francis Uzoho; Ryan Alebiosu, Chidozie Awaziem, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi; Frank Onyeka, Wilfred Ndidi; Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon; Paul Onuachu
Wilfred Ndidi available after suspension and should replace Raphael Onyedika in midfield.
With Victor Osimhen doubtful, Chelle will surely make changes here with Francis Uzoho, Ryan Alebiosu, Chidozie Awaziem, Zaidu Sanusi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Paul Onuachu all hoping to start.
Verdict
It's the match that nobody wants to play after the heartbreak of failing to reach the final. Nigeria have a great record in this fixture and Egypt might have already checked out of Morocco.
