Chelsea Looking to Finish Strong Under McFarlane

Chelsea are outside of the European qualification spots by one point in the Premier League. The Blues appointed Callum McFarlane as interim manager until the end of the season after poor form under previous boss, Liam Rosenior.

The West London side are on a five-match losing streak in the Premier League. They have lost at home to Newcastle 1-0, Man City 3-0 and Man United 1-0 in that spell.

The Blues improved in McFarlane’s first game in charge and beat Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-final. Enzo Fernandez scored the winner in the first half and Chelsea limited Leeds to 0.84 XG.

Nottingham Forest Climbing Away From Relegation Danger

Vítor Pereira’s Nottingham Forest have moved five points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone. The Tricky Trees are the second most in-form team in the division, taking 11 points from five games.

Forest are undefeated in six consecutive league matches, including three draws. The Midlands outfit held Aston Villa to a 1-1 home draw before beating Burnley 4-1 and Sunderland 5-0 away.

The Reds continued their impressive recent form with a 1-0 win against Aston Villa in the Europa League. Forest had the better chances with 1.55 XG and five shots on target and Chris Wood scored a late penalty.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Robert Sanchez; Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella; Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo; Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho; Joao Pedro

Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is an injury doubt. Attacking duo Estevao and Jamie Gittens are ruled out due to injury.

Reece James and Levi Colwill could return to the squad for the Forest match. McFarlane was positive about the defender’s recoveries and said, "Reece is back in training, and Levi is back in training also.

“Both are looking good, which is really positive. We’re still a little way out from the game [on Monday], so we’ll see how they do in the next few training sessions but are looking promising.”

Nottingham Forest (4-4-2): Stefan Ortega; Zach Abbott, Nikola Milenkovic, Morato, Neco Williams; Omari Hutchinson, Nicolas Dominguez, Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White; Igor Jesus, Chris Wood

Defenders Murillo, Jair Cunha and Ola Aina and midfielders Ibrahim Sangare and Dan Ndoye are injury doubts.

Attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi and goalkeeper John Victor are ruled out for the season. Defenders Nicolo Savona and Willy Boly are unavailable due to injury.

Verdict

Chelsea will hope to build Premier League form under McFarlane and in-form Forest can continue their battle against relegation. A draw is the best bet in this Premier League encounter.
