Everton Form

David Moyes’ Everton had a difficult pre-season and were winless in six friendlies. They also started the Premier League season with a 1-0 loss at Leeds.

The Toffees have improved since that opening day loss and won three in a row. Everton won their first-ever competitive game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, 2-0 against Brighton, before beating Mansfield 2-0.

The Merseysiders followed those results with a 3-2 Premier League win at Wolves. Beto, Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall struck as Everton dominated with 1.93 XG.

Aston Villa Form

Aston Villa have dropped to 19th place in the Premier League after failing to win any of their opening three games.

Villa played out a 0-0 opening match draw at home against Newcastle. The Midlands side followed that stalemate with a 1-0 loss at Brentford.

Unai Emery’s side couldn’t respond and were thrashed 3-0 at home by Crystal Palace. The Villans conceded first, had 1.14-2.65 XG and let in two more late goals.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Everton (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Jake O'Brien, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane, Vitaliy Mykolenko; James Garner, Idrissa Gueye, Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Jack Grealish; Thierno Barry

Defensive duo Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson are expected to return following recent injuries.

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Marco Bizot; Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, Lucas Digne, John McGinn, Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Morgan Rogers, Evann Guessand; Ollie Watkins

Full-back Andres Garcia has a knock and is unavailable here.

Verdict

Everton are building form and confidence and have been particularly positive at their new stadium. It’s hard to see Villa challenging the Toffees too much here and a home EPL win has good value.
