Hull City, hampered by a long injury list and insufficient quality, are unlikely to match Premier League powerhouse Manchester United in their upcoming clash. The recommendation focuses on a commanding Man United away win, highlighting value in betting on both the victory and a high-scoring game. Backing Man United to win alongside over 2.5 goals and considering a wager on over 3.5 goals are suggested, reflecting an expectation of United starting strong this season against weakened opposition.

Hull vs Man United Preview

Hull are missing a lot of players ahead of the new 2026/27 campaign and looked shaky in pre-season. Man United will want to maintain momentum from a strong finish last season and an away Premier League win is predicted.

Key Stats - United in Premier League Form

  • Hull have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 11 home games.
  • Man United have won their last 2 Premier League matches.
  • Man United have seen over 2.5 goals in 2 consecutive Premier League games.

H2H

Man United have a 22-6 advantage against Hull, alongside five draws.

Hull Facing a Tough Premier League Challenge

Hull finished sixth in the Championship last season. The Humberside team sealed promotion after beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the play-off final.

Sergej Jakirovic’s side started pre-season positively with back-to-back wins over Konyaspor 3-0 and Rizespor 2-0.

Several key player injuries led to a dip in form ahead of the new season. Hull were winless in their final three friendlies, including a 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa and a 2-0 defeat to Frankfurt.

The Tigers were then held to a 0-0 home draw against French side Nice to complete pre-season.

Man United Seeking Momentum From Last Season

Michael Carrick’s Man United ended the 2025/26 Premier League as one of the most in-form sides. The Red Devils were unbeaten in their final six games, winning five and scoring 12 goals

United lost their pre-season opener 1-0 against Wrexham before notching a four-match unbeaten streak.

A 5-0 victory over Rosenborg and a 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid came before 1-1 draws against PSG and Leeds.

Carrick’s side couldn’t maintain their unbeaten run and lost 4-2 against AC Milan. United had 1.78 XG and goals from Harry Maguire and Patrick Dorgu couldn’t prevent the defeat.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Hull (4-2-3-1): Konstantinos Tzolakis; Lewie Coyle, Semi Ajayi, Nobel Mendy, Matt Targett; Regan Slater, Matt Crooks; Mohamed Belloumi, Jens Hjerto-Dahl, Elliot Stroud; Oli McBurnie.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland, defensive pair Charlie Hughes and Matty Jacob and striker Joe Gelhardt are injured.

Midfielders Elliot Matazo, Darko Gyabi, Hidemasa Morita and Oscar Zambrano are also ruled out due to injury.

Sergej Jakirovic addressed Hull’s injury issues ahead of the new campaign and said, "It's football, injuries, it's normal things for us. It's just that the timing of these injuries is not good.”

Man United (4-2-3-1): Senne Lammens; Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw; Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos; Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha; Bryan Mbeumo

Striker Benjamin Sesko and defender Matthijs de Ligt have returned to training and could make the Man United squad here.

Midfielder Mason Mount is doubtful after sustaining an impact injury against PSG.

Verdict

Hull have a lot of injuries and lack enough quality to compete against the Premier League’s top sides. Man United will target a strong start to the new season and a commanding away win is the best bet.
