Austria vs Cyprus Tips & Predictions – Home Win & BTTS is a Value Bet in the WCQ 2026

Austria is showing impressive form at the start of the WCQ 2026, securing back-to-back wins against Romania and San Marino. Looking ahead, Austria is favored to continue their winning run, though Cyprus may still manage to score. Michael Gregoritsch stands out as a strong candidate to score again, having found the net in his last three matches. Recommended bets include an Austria win with both teams scoring and Gregoritsch scoring anytime.

Austria vs Cyprus Preview

Cyprus are much more focused on offense under their new coach Apostolos Mantzios. While I like their chances of finding the net on Saturday, Austria are expected to claim three points.

HTH

Austria have a 6-0 advantage against Cyprus with 1 draw in 7 matches.

They last met in February 2005, the game ending in a 1-1 draw.

Austria Form

Austria are having a perfect start to their World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign, collecting six points from opening two encounters.

Das Team kicked things off with a 2-1 home victory against Romania in early June, Michael Gregoritsch breaking the deadlock just before break, Marcel Sabitzer doubling the lead in the 60th minute.

Ralf Rangnick’s side had no problems against minnow San Marino in the second round a couple of days later, claiming a 4-0 road victory. Marko Arnautovic starred with two goals and one assist, Gregoritsch and Chris Baumgartner also on target.

Cyprus Form

Cyprus started the WC 2026 qualifying campaign under new leadership, Apostolos Mantzios appointed as the new head coach earlier this year.

After beating San Marino 2-0 in the first round at home, they were beaten by Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-1 in a close match. Ioannis Pittas scored twice in these encounters.

After a 2-2 draw against Bulgaria in early June (a friendly match), Cyprus didn’t offer much in a 2-0 qualifying loss to Romania in Bucharest, recording just one shot on target.

Team News

Gernot Trauner and Max Wober were not called up for Austria this time. Marko Arnautovic has the most appearances for the national team on this roster (125) and is also the top scorer with 41 goals.

As for the visitors, Demetris Demetriou and Marios Ilia didn’t make it to the final list this time. Midfielder Kostakis Arymatas has the most appearances (77), while veteran Pieros Sotiriou leads the scoring with 12 goals.

Predicted Starting Lineups

Austria: Schlager, Posch, Danso, Lienhart, Mwene, Laimer, Seiwald, Baumgartner, Sabitzer, Gregoritsch, Arnautovic

Cyprus: Mall, Satsias, Sielis, Laifis, Pileas, Kastanos, Kyriakou, Loizou, Sotiriou, Kakoullis, Pittas

Verdict

Austria are having a strong start to the WCQ 2026, earning back to back victories against Romania and San Marino. I like Cyprus’ chances of bagging a goal, but still to lose to a superior side.

Another bet worth considering is Michael Gregoritsch to score anytime. He has found the net in his last three appearances for Das Team.
