Gamba Osaka vs Buriram United Predictions & Tips - Gamba to Edge AFC Elite Encounter

Gamba Osaka welcome Buriram United to Panasonic Stadium Suita for an AFC Elite fixture, with a home win, both teams to score, and over 2.5 goals tipped. Gamba have scored seven goals in two AFC Elite wins and are unbeaten in four, but have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 matches. Buriram United arrive after a surprise 3-2 home defeat and have also been involved in high-scoring games recently. Both teams' attacking form and defensive vulnerabilities suggest another open, goal-filled contest.

Gamba Osaka vs Buriram United Predictions

Gamba Osaka welcome Thai champions Buriram United to Panasonic Stadium Suita on Wednesday for an AFC Elite encounter.

Gamba have scored seven goals in winning their opening two fixtures, and a high-scoring home win is expected this week.

Gamba Osaka to win is my first pick, while I also fancy BTTS and over 2.5 goals.

Gamba Tipped to Claim High-Scoring Win

  • Gamba Osaka won their last 2 matches (AFC Elite)
  • Gamba Osaka have seen an average of 4.5 goals per game in their last 2 matches (AFC Elite)
  • Gamba Osaka have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches
  • Buriram United lost 2 of their last 4 matches
  • Buriram United have seen BTTS & over 4.5 goals in their last 2 matches (Thai League 1)

Gamba and Buriram Set For Third Meeting

Gamba Osaka and Buriram United have met on two occasions, both in the 2015 AFC Champions League.

Gamba edged to a 2-1 victory in their most recent encounter in Thailand in April 2015.

Gamba Osaka Denied Late Victory Against Kyoto

Gamba Osaka return to continental action after a 2-2 home draw against Kyoto Sanga on Saturday.
Goals from Takashi Usami and Issam Jebali twice put the hosts ahead, but Takumi Kato's stoppage-time equaliser ensured a share of the spoils at Panasonic Stadium Suita.

Jun Ichimori's 53rd-minute dismissal made Gamba's task even harder, and despite creating the better chances, the hosts were forced to settle for a point.

Tomokazu Myojin's side registered more shots on target (7-3) and a higher xG total (1.80-1.56), despite having fewer attempts overall (12-14).

The Osaka giants have picked up some form in the second half of October. Wednesday's hosts are unbeaten in their last four matches (W2, D2). All four games finished with BTTS while three of those games saw at least four goals scored.

The Black-and-Blueshave made an impressive start to their AFC Champions League Elite campaign. The J1L side eased to a 4-1 home victory against Cong An Ha Noi in their first fixture before a 3-1 road win at Newcastle Jets two weeks ago.

A lack of clean sheets remains a concern, though. Osaka conceded at least one goal in all but one of 12 previous matches.

Buriram Suffer Surprise Home Defeat

Buriram United travel to Japan after a surprise 3-2 home defeat against Sisaket United in the Thai League 1 on Saturday.

Trailing by two inside the first half hour, goals from Supachai Jaided and Kingsley Schindler levelled the contest before Jefinho's 74th minute goal secured the points for Sisaket.

Mario Silva's men were somewhat unfortunate to emerge empty-handed from an entertaining contest. Buriram dominated possession (74-26%), registered more shots (17-12) and recorded a higher xG total (2.14-1.10), but failed to make their superiority count.

Before Saturday'’s shock setback, Buriram had secured wins in three of four previous fixtures, including an emphatic 8-0 cup win against DPU FC.

Buriram's AFC Champions League Elite results have been less encouraging. The Thunder Castle drew 1-1 at Johor Darul Ta'zim in September before a 1-0 home reversal against Beijing Guoan two weeks ago.

The Thai champions have yet to reach the heights of last season's impressive run to the AFC Elite quarter-finals. Buriram eventually bowed out of the competition with a 3-2 defeat against UAE opponents Shabab Al Ahli.

Gamba Osaka vs Buriram United Team News

Gamba Osaka: (4-2-3-1) Jun Ichimori; Takeru Kishimoto, Shinnosuke Nakatani, Shota Fukuoka, Shinya Nakano; Tokuma Suzuki, Rin Mito; Ryoya Yamashita, Takashi Usami, Eli Adams, Issam Jebali.

Tomokazu Myojin is unlikely to make too many changes from the side that drew against Kyoto.

Takashi Usami and Issam Jebali are expected to keep their places in the first XI after scoring in last weekend's 2-2 draw.

The hosts have no reported injury issues HILE Jun Ichimori is available despite a domestic suspension.

Buriram United: (4-2-3-1) Neil Etheridge; Jakkaphan Praisuwan, Kenny Dougall, Nathan Cardoso, Sasalak Haiprakhon; Theerathon Bunmathan, Phitiwat Sukjitthammakul; Sebas Moyano, Supachai Jaided, Kingsley Schindler, Guilherme Bissoli.

Mario Silva could make some changes to his selection after Saturday's defeat.

Kingsley Schindler impressed after replacing Paulinho and is in contention to earn a recall.

Top scorer Guilherme Bissoli is expected to spearhead the Buriram attack. The Brazilian forward has scored five goals in nine appearances this season.

Verdict

Buriram are no pushovers, but Gamba should make use of home advantage to secure a third successive AFC Elite win.

I have stakes on a home win and BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored at Panasonic Stadium Suita.
