Both Manchester United and AC Milan have shown defensive vulnerabilities in their pre-season games, making their upcoming match a likely goal-fest. The recommended bets are both teams to score (BTTS) combined with over 2.5 goals, and even considering over 3.5 goals for added value. The key takeaway is to expect an open game with multiple goals, as recent performances suggest attacking football will dominate.

Man United vs AC Milan Preview

Man United have seen a lot of BTTS results in pre-season and AC Milan don’t keep many clean sheets. There’s value on BTTS and over 2.5 goals in this friendly clash at Old Trafford.

3 BTTS Results in a Row for United

  • Man United have seen BTTS in 3 consecutive games.
  • AC Milan have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.
  • AC Milan have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 6 games.

H2H

Man United have a 6-5 advantage against AC Milan, alongside one draw.

Clean Sheets Rare For Man United in Pre-Season

Michael Carrick’s Man United have been high-scoring in pre-season. They have scored nine and conceded four in five games, keeping just one clean sheet.

The Red Devils started pre-season with a 1-0 defeat against Wrexham and hit back with a 5-0 win over Rosenborg.

Another victory followed against Atletico Madrid 2-1 before a 1-1 stalemate against PSG. United had over 1XG in each of those games.

The Manchester outfit recorded back-to-back draws after a 1-1 deadlock against Leeds on Wednesday. Joshua Zirkzee scored early and United allowed 2.02 XG before conceding in the 29th minute.

AC Milan's Defensive Issues Continue

Italian side AC Milan have been unconvincing recently and are winless in nine of their last 11 fixtures. The Rossoneri have conceded 18 goals in that spell.

New boss Ruben Amorim has struggled to prevent Milan’s defensive issues in pre-season. The Serie A outfit are winless in all three friendlies, shipping six goals.

Milan’s winless pre-season streak started with a 2-2 draw against Celtic and a 1-1 stalemate with Inter Milan.

Amorim’s side then lost 3-0 against Chelsea on Saturday. The Rossoneri allowed 2.18 XG and faced 18 shots in the one-sided defeat.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Man United (4-2-3-1): Senne Lammens; Diogo Dalot, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw; Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos; Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha; Bryan Mbeumo

Midfielder Mason Mount missed the Leeds game and is an injury doubt here.

Carrick spoke about the midfielder’s condition recently and said, "He just got a kick. So we just wanted [it] to be a precaution really, to look after him.”

AC Milan (3-4-2-1): Mike Maignan; Fikayo Tomori, Koni De Winter, Strahinja Pavlovic; Samuel Chukwueze, Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot, Pervis Estupinan; Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rafael Leao; Goncalo Ramos

Santiago Gimenez and Christian Pulisic have missed pre-season due to injury. The attacking duo are also ruled out of the Man United clash.

Verdict

Man United and AC Milan have lacked defensive quality in pre-season and goals are likely here. Stick with BTTS and over 2.5 goals on Saturday.
