  • Nigeria have drawn 2 of their last 4 matches.
  • Nigeria have drawn 9 of their last 17 matches against Tunisia.

HTH - Draws Prominent

Tunisia have a 5-3 advantage Nigeria in 17 encounters, nine of them ending in draws.

They last met in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, Tunisia winning 1-0 in the round of 16 clash.

Nigeria Off the Mark at AFCON

Nigeria were unable to qualify for the World Cup, finishing second behind South Africa in Group C. The sneaked into the second round, a 4-1 extra time victory over Gabon in the semi-finals.

The Super Eagles took an early lead against DR Congo in the final but were eventually overpowered, the game ending 1-1 before they lost the penalty shootout.

Eric Chelle’s side started AFCON with a 2-1 win against Tanzania. They deserved the victory after ending with 95% possession and 11-3 shots on target, Alex Iwobi assisting goals for Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman.
The manager hinted that he could change his tactics against Tunisia, saying: "In my mind I have two options: the first is maybe to let Tunisia have the ball... or we continue with our philosophy.

"As we know Tunisia is a good team and maybe we will change something. I have to prepare my players well as it's not going to be easy."

Nigeria Predicted Line Up & Squad

Nigeria (4-2-3-1) Stanley Nwabali; Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi; Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi; Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman; Akor Adams; Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen was unhappy at being substituted against Tanzania and Chelle confirmed he discussed the incident with his striker, saying: “We talked with Victor, and it will stay between me and him.

“He had some frustration, but we will focus on teamwork and his contribution. He played well, had some chances, and even had a goal cleared off the line.”

Captain Wilfred Ndidi weighed in on the situation, saying: “He’s a big player, he wants to do the best for the team; so maybe he’s a bit frustrated, it’s normal.”

Tunisia Hard to Beat

Tunisia breezed through the World Cup qualifiers, finishing 13 points clear at the top of Group H. They won nine matches alongside one draw, scoring 22 goals with none conceded.

The Carthage Eagles secured a 1-1 draw against Brazil in November before a second-string side were knocked out in the group stage at the FIFA Arab Cup.

Sami Trabelsi’s side started the Africa Cup of Nations with a regulation 3-1 win against Uganda. They had 1.43-0.55 xG, Ellyes Skhiri scoring early before two goals to Elias Achouri established a 3-0 lead.
Trabelsi is keen for his side to maintain the momentum after the disappointing group stage exit at AFCON two years ago, saying: "After the first win, we have fully entered the tournament atmosphere, especially after the poor start we had in the previous edition.

"We must continue with the same level. We are happy with the warm welcoming of Moroccan fans... our goal is to improve with each match."

Tunisia Predicted Line Up & Squad

Tunisia (4-3-3) Aymen Dahmen; Yan Valery, Dylan Bronn, Montassar Talbi, Ali Abdi; Ferjani Sassi, Ellyes Skhiri, Hannibal Mejbri; Elias Achouri, Hazem Mastouri, Elias Saad

Trabelsi is unlikely to make any changes after admitting: "We don't change a winning team. The players who performed deserve to play again."
