Porto vs Nice Betting Tips - Nice’s Losing Streak to Continue in the Europa League

Porto, with a formidable home record, prepares to face Nice, who are on a losing streak in the Europa League. Porto have won 9 of their last 10 home matches and are expected to continue their strong performance against Nice, who have lost all four of their previous Europa League encounters. The key recommendation is to back Porto for a win, potentially without conceding, given their defensive solidity at home. Expert insights suggest Porto has the upper hand, making them favorites for the upcoming clash.

Porto do their best work at home and Nice have lost all four games in the Europa League. The French club have scored in each defeat, but I don’t expect the French club to continue that trend in northern Portugal.

Key Stats - Porto Dominant at Home

  • Porto have won 9 of their last 10 home matches.
  • Porto have kept 6 clean sheets in their last 8 home matches.
  • Nice have lost their last 4 matches.

First HTH Clash

This will be the first match between Porto and Nice, these clubs exchanging two players in the previous decade.

Ricardo Pereira moved to Nice on loan in 2015 before sealing a €22m move to Leicester City. Porto signed Pablo Rosario for €3.75m in August this year.

Porto on Top in Portugal

Porto started the season with nine straight wins, the run halted after a 0-0 draw against Benfica. They have tasted defeat just once, on the road in the Europa League where they conceded two penalties in a 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest.

The Dragons bounced back to win four of their next five games. The only blip came in another away trip in the Europa League, drawing 1-1 at Utrecht where they enjoyed 75% possession and 1.22-0.54 xG.

Francesco Farioli’s side haven’t conceded since, a 1-0 win at Famalicao preserving their spot at the top of the Primeira Liga and a 3-0 victory over Sintrense seeing them advance in the Portuguese Cup.

Nice 0-4 in the Europa League

Nice have lost 12 of their 19 matches this campaign, unable to gather any momentum and not looking like the side that finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season.

Franck Haise’s side have lost all four in the Europa League, despite managing to score in each contest. The last one came at home, 3-1 against Freiburg after Kevin gave them an early lead.

The French club suffered a third straight defeat in Ligue 1 on Friday, a humiliating 5-1 loss against their southern neighbours Marseille. They were 4-0 down before Mohamed-Ali Cho got a goal back, but once again their defence was carved open.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Porto (4-3-3) Diogo Costa; Alberto Costa, Jakub Kiwior, Dominik Prpic, Francisco Moura; Gabri Veiga, Alan Varela, Rodrigo Mora; Pepe, Samu Aghehowa, Borja Sainz

Centre-back Nehuen Perez remains out long term due to an achilles rupture. Jan Bednarek trained without limitations following a minor knee injury and could be an option.

Victor Froholdt was left out of the squad against Sintrense but the midfielder is back in training and could start here.

Expect Fariolo to bring Diogo Costa, Jakub Kiwior and Alberto Costa back into the starting side.

Nice (3-4-1-2) Yehvann Diouf; Kojo Peprah Oppong, Juma Bah, Antoine Mendy; Jonathan Clauss, Charles Vanhoutte, Morgan Sanson, Melvin Bard; Sofiane Diop; Mohamed-Ali Cho, Jeremie Boga

Centre-backs Mohamed Abdelmonem, Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Moise Bombito remain out with long term injuries. Midfielder Hicham Boudaoui continues to recover from a hip injury.

Verdict

Nice’s defence has been struggling all season, that fact proved on Friday when they lost 5-1 at home against Marseille. Porto regularly win at home and can ease to victory in the Europa League.
