Rayon Sport and KVZ kick off their Kagame Cup campaign in Group C after strong domestic seasons. Both clubs come in with impressive attacking records, having scored regularly in recent matches but also struggling to keep clean sheets. With no prior meetings and attack-minded playstyles on both sides, goals are likely. The key recommendation is to back 'Both Teams to Score.'

Rayon Sport of Rwanda square off against KVZ of Zanzibar in a Group C clash in the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Both teams will be keen to make a positive start to the tournament and are likely to adopt an open style which should produce goals.

Key Stats

  • Rayon Sport have scored in eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Rayon Sport have conceded in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • KVZ have scored in their last six matches in all competitions.
  • KVZ have conceded in five of their last six matches in all competitions.

First Ever Meeting

There are no previous matches between Rayon Sport and KVZ.

Rayon Sport Looking Solid

Rayon Sport are coming off a solid domestic campaign where they finished fourth in the Rwanda Premier League. However, they will head into their Kagame Cup opener having not been in action since their final fixture in May.

The Rwandan side had a generally solid end to the season and were unbeaten in nine of their final 10 matches in all competitions. Their last fixture was a 1-1 home draw with Kiyovu.

Rayon Sport are solid in attack and have scored in eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions. However, they will need to tighten up at the back, having failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of those 10 fixtures.

KVZ Flying High

KVZ are the champions of Zanzibar, having secured the league title back in May. However, like their rivals, they are also without competitive action since the end of the domestic season.

The task for KVZ is to capture their form from the final weeks of the domestic season, where they claimed six straight wins. Their last fixture was a 3-2 victory over New Stone Town.

Goals do not seem to be a problem for KVZ, who have scored in their last six matches in all competitions. However, they often struggle to keep things tight at the back and have conceded in five of those six fixtures.

Team News and Predicted Line-ups

Rayon Sport (4-2-3-1): Drissa Kouyate; Ramazani Tshimanga, Yannick Bangala, Youassou Diagne, Ben Aziz Dao; Akbar Muderi, Abedi Bigirimana; Aziz Basane, Gloire Tambwe, Adama Bagayogo; Ngagne Fall.

Bangala is expected to hold the fort in defence for Rayon Sport alongside Diagne. Muderi should start in the heart of midfield while Fall is set to lead the line.

KVZ (4-3-3): Abdalla Bakari; Rashid Omar Rashid, Said Mohammed, Ali Amour, Idd Mrisho; Suleiman Saleh, Saleh Nassor, Sleman Juma; Salim Songoro, Yussuf Joseph, Nassir Iddi.

Iddi is set to feature in attack for KVZ with Joseph and Songoro providing support. Mohammed should start in the heart of the defence alongside Amour.

Verdict

Rayon Sport and KVZ are coming off solid domestic campaigns and will be feeling confident heading into their Kagame Cup opener.

Both teams prefer to play on the front foot and could be backed to score here.
