Sevilla host Real Madrid in their 199th La Liga meeting, with Sevilla in strong recent form and almost safe from relegation. Real Madrid's title chase ended after a defeat to Barcelona, and team morale is low amidst boos and internal conflict. Sevilla have scored six in their last three games, while Madrid's defense has shown weakness. The prediction favors both teams to score (BTTS), with the match likely to see over 2.5 goals.

Real Madrid were lucky to keep the net intact on Wednesday against last-placed Real Oviedo, opposition missing two huge chances to score. I am confident red-hot Sevilla will net at least once against Los Blancos.

Key Stats

  • Sevilla have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Sevilla have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 home matches against Real Madrid.
  • Real Madrid have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 12 matches.

This Will be Their 199th Head to Head Clash

Real Madrid have been more successful in previous h2h’s, claiming 109 victories in 198 matches while Sevilla celebrated 57 wins.

Hosts Close to Escaping Relegation Battle

Just a couple of weeks ago Sevilla were in serious danger of relegation but stepped up their game claiming three straight wins and currently sit in 12th place, four points above the red line.

It turned out that appointing Luis Garcia as the new head manager and removing Matias Almeyda in late March was a good decision. Los Rojiblancos started this month with a 1-0 home win over Real Sociedad, followed by another 2-1 victory against Espanyol at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Sevilla claimed three massive points in the mid-week La Liga action, upsetting 3rd placed Villarreal 3-2. They were down by two goals after just 20 minutes of play here but managed to recover.

Disastrous Season for Los Blancos

Real Madrid’s La Liga title hopes were effectively over after last weekend’s 2-0 El Clasico defeat to FC Barcelona at Camp Nou, where they managed just one shot on target.

This is set to become their second consecutive season without winning a major trophy, and it is likely Alvaro Arbeloa will be replaced during the summer break. Team morale also appears to be very low, with reports of internal conflicts among the players.

Things became even worse during the mid-week home clash against Real Oviedo, which Real Madrid won 2-0, as almost the entire stadium expressed dissatisfaction by booing the team, especially Kylian Mbappe.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Sevilla (4-4-2) Odysseas Vlachodimos; Jose Angel Carmona, Castrin, Kike Salas, Gabriel Suazo; Ruben Vargas, Nemanja Gudelj, Lucien Agoume, Oso; Akor Adams, Neal Maupay

The hosts will be missing Marcao and Manu Bueno through injury, while a late decision will be made on Isaac Romero.

Real Madrid (4-2-3-1) Thibaut Courtois; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger, Fran Garcia; Thiago Pitarch, Aurelien Tchouameni; Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior; Kylian Mbappe

Alvaro Arbeloa have to contend with a massive injury list, as Rodrygo, Arda Guler, Eder Militao, and Federico Valverde remain sidelined. All eyes will be on Kylian Mbappe, who returns to the starting lineup following a controversial bench appearance against Real Oviedo.

Verdict

Sevilla scored six goals in the last three La Liga games in May, while Real Madrid’s defense is their weakest link. I will back both sides to score at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday.
