South Melbourne vs Adelaide United Betting Tips & Live Stream - Under 2.5 goals tipped in Australia Cup clash

South Melbourne, unbeaten in their last four games, take on three-time Australia Cup winners Adelaide United in their first-ever encounter. South Melbourne have improved their form recently, climbing to fifth in NPL Victoria and beating league leaders Oakleigh Cannons. Adelaide United finished second in the A-League regular season but struggled in the finals, though remain well-prepared through recent friendlies. With both sides showing defensive strength and drawing often, the forecast is for a tight, low-scoring affair, likely ending in a draw after 90 minutes. Recommended bets: South Melbourne double chance, under 2.5 goals, possible 1-1 scoreline.

South Melbourne vs Adelaide United Verdict

South Melbourne can hold their own against three-time Australia Cup champions Adelaide United with a draw in 90 minutes value. I'm also predicted this will be a tight one with under 2.5 goals.
  • South Melbourne are unbeaten in their last 4 games
  • South Melbourne have seen under 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 games
  • South Melbourne's last two Australia Cup games vs A-League teams saw under 2.5 goals
  • Adelaide have drawn 1-1 in 6 of their last 10 competitive games

Head To Head

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs.

South Melbourne Form - Form Turnaround

South Melbourne are currently fifth in the NPL Victoria standings, winning 11 of their 22 games with an even 33-33 goal difference.

After a poor run of form, South Melbourne have established themselves inside the top six, going unbeaten in their last four games and winning three.

The Hellas will be confident heading into this clash after a most-recent 2-1 victory over NPL leaders Oakleigh Cannons.

Adelaide United Form - Back To Work For The Reds

It was a great season for Adelaide in the A-League as they finished second during the regular season before ultimately falling to eventual winners Auckland in the semi-finals.

However, they lacked a killer instinct during the back-end of the campaign that cost them, managing just three wins from their last nine games.

The Reds benefit from having a bit more preseason under their belts than other A-League clubs for this Australia Cup, winning a pair of friendlies over the last fortnight against Cove FC (5-0) and Playford Patriots (2-0).

Verdict

South Melbourne can finish level at the end of 90 minutes in a game that sees under 2.5 goals.
