Valencia continues to struggle offensively, managing only one goal and one point across their first four matches. Conversely, Sevilla has shown improvement and stability since Luis Garcia took over as manager. Given these contrasting forms, Sevilla is backed to emerge victorious in their upcoming Friday match against Valencia.

Valencia's performances so far have been awful, so I will back Sevilla to win on Friday, which could potentially lead to the sacking of manager Carlos Corberan.

Key Stats

  • Sevilla have won 2 of their last 4 matches.
  • Valencia have lost their last 3 matches.

97-Year-Old Rivalry

These two teams clashed 200 times so far and Valencia have an 89-74 advantage in terms of victories, 37 matches ending without a winner.

Decent Run for Sevilla so Far

Sevilla accumulated seven points from the opening four La Liga rounds and currently sit in 7th place.

Start to the new campaign was amazing, claiming back to back victories against Rayo Vallecano 2-1 and Athletic Bilbao 3-1 before losing to favored Atletico Madrid 3-1 at home.

Last weekend, Los Rojiblancos were in trouble at Espanyol when Arouna Sangante was sent off right after the break. Still, they broke the deadlock in the 85th minute (Lucas Stassin on target), but conceded in stoppage time, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Disastrous Start for the Bats

Judging by early days, there is a high chance Valencia will be battling against relegation for third year in a row, currently sitting bottom of the La Liga table.

The Bats played their first two games in front of the home crowd at Mestalla, a goalless draw against Celta Vigo where both sides failed to create chances, followed by a 1-0 loss to Real Betis.

Their back line collapsed in the next two games, first losing to newly promoted Deportivo La Coruna 3-1, then 5-0 to Barcelona in front of the home crowd last weekend. (Arnaut Danjuma missed two big chances to score a consolation).

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Sevilla (4-3-3) Odysseas Vlachodimos; Juan Iglesias, Andres Castrin, Kike Salas, Gabriel Suazo; Lucien Agoume, Giorgi Kochorashvili, Jon Guridi; Gonzalo Sierra, Robbie Ure, Thierry Correia

Arouna Sangante serves a red card suspension alongside his ankle issue, while Marcao and Ruben Vargas remain sidelined.

Valencia (4-2-3-1) Stole Dimitrievski; Pablo Maffeo, Cesar Tarrega, Arnau Martinez, Jose Gaya; Pepelu, Javi Guerra; Bamba Dieng, Robin Ugrinic, Shintaro Sato; Arnaut Danjuma

Visitors are severely depleted by physical setbacks, missing Guido Rodriguez, Justin de Haas, Luis Rioja, Mouctar Diakhaby, Diego Lopez, and Umar Sadiq.

Verdict

Valencia scored just one goal and secured one point in the opening four rounds. Sevilla found stability under manager Luis Garcia and I will back them to win on Friday.
