Tottenham host Everton in a pivotal Premier League match, with survival and pride on the line. Spurs face massive pressure following a poor home record and a recent defeat to Chelsea, while Everton, solid away and coming off a loss to Sunderland, look to make things difficult. Both teams have shown defensive vulnerabilities with BTTS (Both Teams To Score) being a strong prediction. Despite Tottenham's edge in head-to-head meetings, Everton are tipped to avoid defeat, making this a nervy encounter likely to feature goals from both sides.

Tottenham vs Everton Predictions

Tottenham are under massive pressure, and they seem unlikely to keep the door closed in Sunday’s decisive Premier League clash.

BTTS is my best bet, while I also fancy Everton to at least avoid defeat.

BTTS on the Cards

  • Tottenham have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 10 home matches (Premier League)
  • Tottenham have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Tottenham failed to win 16 of their last 18 home matches (Premier League)
  • Everton have seen BTTS in their last 6 matches
  • Everton won 3 of their last 4 away matches

Tottenham Lead Everton in H2H Record

Tottenham and Everton have met on 13 occasions since 2020. Tottenham won six of those games, including a 3-0 away victory earlier this season.

Everton claimed three victories but have not won in London since 2020.

Tottenham Slip-Up at Chelsea

Tottenham’s hopes of Premier League survival suffered a blow on Tuesday with a disappointing 2-1 defeat at London rivals Chelsea. Richarlison’s 11th goal of the season proved consolation only as the Blues picked up the points at the Bridge.

Roberto de Zerbi’s side created four clear-cut chances and, despite registering a higher xG (1.27 to 0.63), returned home empty-handed.

Now facing their final fixture of the season, Spurs sit two points clear of West Ham in a dramatic battle to avoid relegation. The Lilywhites need just a point that, barring an extraordinary 12-goal Hammers win against Leeds, should secure their Premier League status.

A miserable home record offers little in the way of encouragement for De Zerbi’s strugglers. Tottenham have not won an EPL game at the London Stadium since December, while they have failed to win 26 of 29 home league fixtures since November 2024.

Clean sheets have been a rare occurrence for the relegation-threatened hosts. Spurs conceded at least one goal in 15 of their last 16 fixtures.

Everton Stunned by Black Cats

Everton make the trip to London after a 3-1 home defeat against Sunderland all but ended their hopes of European qualification. Merlin Rohl had given the Toffees a first-half lead, but late goals from Enzo Le Fee (81') and Wilson Isidor (90+1') secured an impressive comeback victory for Regis Le Bris’s side.

The Black Cats proved clinical in front of goal, scoring three times from just seven shots and an xG of only 0.71.

David Moyes’s men have endured a frustrating run of form in the closing weeks of the EPL season. Everton have failed to win any of their last six league fixtures, picking up just three points during that run.

On the road, the Toffees have been solid this season, though, winning seven and losing only six of their 18 away Premier League fixtures. Everton currently boast the sixth-best away record in the division.

Heading into the final game of the campaign, Moyes’s side sit 12th in the table, three points behind eighth-placed Chelsea, but with a vastly inferior goal difference.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Tottenham (4-2-3-1) Antonin Kinsky; Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie; Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha; Randal Kolo Muani, Conor Gallagher, Mathys Tel; Richarlison

Head coach De Zerbi has four expected injury absentees this weekend. Mohammed Kudus remains sidelined with a muscle injury, while Ben Davies, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke are also expected to miss out.

Speaking after the defeat at Chelsea, De Zerbi remained upbeat ahead of Sunday’s huge fixture.

"I think we played a very good game. We lost.

"But now is not the time to think too much of this game. We have to prepare the next game. We play in our stadium with our fans. With our qualities, with character, with pride and courage, we have to play."

"But I am positive because today, we played a good game."

Everton (4-2-3-1) Jordan Pickford; Jake O'Brien, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane, Vitaliy Mykolenko; Tim Iroegbunam, James Garner; Merlin Roehl, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye; Beto

Everton boss Moyes has a strong squad available this weekend. Idrissa Gana Gueye is the only expected absentee for the visitors.

Scotsman Moyes spoke of his disappointment following the surprise home defeat against Sunderland last week.

"Incredibly disappointed that we did lose. Spells in the game where it looks as if we would be the ones to get in front. Sunderland stuck at it, we didn't."

"The players know the moments, and you have to take them. We haven't got over the line with games."

"Difficult to say today, but in other games we've had a hard treatment with decisions, but today was more to do with us not keeping control.”

Verdict

Everton are unlikely to make life easy for a Tottenham side badly in need of a positive result on Sunday. BTTS is my best bet for what is sure to prove a nervy occasion in London.
