Tusker of Kenya and KVZ of Zanzibar meet in their final Group C fixture at the CECAFA Kagame Cup, with neither side able to qualify for the semi-finals after disappointing campaigns. Both teams have shown defensive frailties, with each conceding heavily in recent matches, but their attacking potential suggests a lively encounter. As pride is all that's left to fight for, fans can expect a committed game with likely goals from both ends. Lineups feature Mbaoma for Tusker and Chalamba for KVZ in attack.

Tusker vs KVZ CECAFA Kagame Cup Preview

There is only pride at stake when Tusker of Kenya and Zanzibar's KVZ square off in their final Group C fixture at the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Having already crashed out of the competition, both teams will be keen to leave on a high and could be set to serve up an open contest.

Key Stats

  • Tusker have conceded in their last six matches in all competitions.
  • Tusker have scored in two of their last four matches in all competitions.
  • KVZ have conceded in nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • KVZ have scored in eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

First Ever Meeting

There are no previous matches between Tusker and KVZ.

Disappointing Campaign for Tusker

Tusker are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Rayon Sport in their previous Group C fixture. They fell behind just before the break and could not find a way back into the contest.

That was the second defeat for Tusker, who began their campaign with a 2-0 loss to Al Hilal Omdurman. They can no longer qualify for the semi-final but will be looking to end on a high note.

One of the issues for Tusker is a shaky backline that has conceded in their last six matches in all competitions. However, they have shown flashes of attacking quality and have scored in two of their last four matches in all competitions.

KVZ Down and Out

Like Tusker, KVZ have also crashed out of the Kagame Cup after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Al Hilal Omdurman last time out. That result followed a 2-0 loss to Rayon Sport in their opening fixture.

The Zanzibar club’s showings at the tournament have been particularly disappointing considering their form heading to Rwanda. They were on an eight-match winning run before facing Rayon Sport.

A problem for KVZ at this tournament is their vulnerable backline that has conceded six goals in just two matches. However, they do have some attacking quality and have scored in eight of their last 10 fixtures in all competitions.

Team News and Predicted Line-ups

Tusker (4-3-3): Nathan Obiero; Amuor Akouala, John Otieno, Hassan Warsama, Aboud Omar; Aboud Doumbia, Bathes Adikiny, Abdoulie Joof; December Kisakah, Steve Omondi, Victor Mbaoma.

Otieno is expected to line up in defence for Tusker while Adikiny should feature in midfield. Mbaoma is expected to feature in attack, with support from Omondi and Kisakah.

KVZ (4-3-3): Muslim Darwesh; Abdi Shehe, Abdu Shafi, Khamis Said, Kassim Hassan, Juma Mahadhi, Khamis Bakar, Juma Kidawa; Muhina Omar, Juma Madai, Atanas Chalamba.

Chalamba is expected to feature in attack for KVZ alongside Madai and Omar. Bakar should start in midfield while Hassan is set to continue in central defence.
