Club Brugge vs Aston Villa Tips & Predictions - Champions League Draw the Best Bet

Club Brugge and Aston Villa meet in the Champions League with both clubs struggling for consistency. Brugge have won only four of their last ten matches and suffered a poor pre-season, while Villa have registered a six-game winless streak. Head-to-head, Aston Villa hold a narrow advantage with two wins in three meetings. With key injuries on both sides and attacking struggles evident, a draw — potentially a 1-1 result — appears the most probable outcome. Fans should expect a close contest instead of a high-scoring affair.

Aston Villa have a 2-1 advantage against Club Brugge in three previous meetings.

Club Brugge Are Inconsistent

Belgian side Club Brugge are in patchy long-term form, winning just four of their previous 10 games. Brugge had a poor pre-season and lost three of their four friendly games, conceding eight.

The Blue-Blacks failed to win in three of their following six games, including a 1-1 draw against Union Saint-Gilloise. They also lost 1-0 against second-tier Beerschot VA and 2-1 at Gent.

Ivan Leko’s team bounced back from the Gent loss with a 1-0 league win against Lommel SK. An own goal sealed the win and Brugge had just 0.81 XG.

Aston Villa Struggling in 2026/27

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are out of form following a six-match winless streak in all competitions.

Villa were second best in pre-season and lost three matches in a row before the new campaign. 2-1 defeats came against Bayern Munich, PSG and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Villans’ downturn continued in the 2026/27 season after a 4-0 loss at Brighton and a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. Emery’s side had less than 1 XG in both defeats.

The Birmingham outfit ended their five-match losing run on Saturday and drew 0-0 at Hull. Villa had 74% possession and one shot on target.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Club Brugge (4-2-3-1): Yann Sommer; Kyriani Sabbe, Han-Beom Lee, Brandon Mechele, Joaquin Seys; Freddie Potts, Hans Vanaken; Carlos Forbs, Hugo Vetlesen, Mamadou Diakhon; Nicolo Tresoldi

Defender Joel Ordonez is sidelined due to a long-term foot injury.

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Zion Suzuki; Matty Cash, Victor Lindelof, Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen; Boubacar Kamara, Joao Gomes; John McGinn, Emiliano Buendia, George Hemmings; Nicolas Jackson

Attacker Brian Madjo is an injury doubt. Midfielder Amadou Onana is ruled out with an ACL injury.

Johan Manzambi could return to the squad against Club Brugge. Unai Emery was hopeful about the midfielder’s recovery and said, “He's training with the group, and he's progressively getting better.

"But he will need some more days for Tuesday in the Champions League, or for our next match against Nottingham Forest.”

Verdict

Club Brugge are lacking momentum and Aston Villa look unconvincing after a long winless run. The Villans will want to tighten up following a slow start to the campaign and a Champions League draw has value.
