Liverpool head into their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid after securing late wins in all four Premier League matches this season. Despite their inconsistent starts, Liverpool have a strong record against Atletico, winning 4 of their last 5 meetings, and remain unbeaten so far. Atletico have struggled for form but remain defensively solid with 8 clean sheets in their last 9 matches. The tip is for a Liverpool home win, with the Reds' resilience and home advantage set to make the difference in this closely contested fixture.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool started the season with a disappointing result in the Community Shield. They took the lead twice against Crystal Palace but were unable to close it out, the game ending in a 2-2 draw before they lost the penalty shootout.

The Reds have won all four games in the Premier League, two late goals securing a 4-2 win against Bournemouth before Rio Ngumoha’s 99th minute strike securing a 3-2 victory at Newcastle.

Arne Slot’s side left it late again against Arsenal, Dominik Szoboszlai netting the winner in the 83rd minute. They were frustrated at Burnley on Saturday, Mohamed Salah’s added time penally giving them a 1-0 win, ending the contest with 81% possession and 27-3 shots.

Atletico Madrid Form

Atletico Madrid have been below their best this season, starting with a 2-1 defeat at Espanyol where Julián Alvarez’s goal gave them a 1-0 half-time lead.

Diego Simeone’s side drew 1-1 against Elche and at Deportivo Alaves, ending each match with 6-2 shots on target.

Atletico registered their first victory on Saturday, beating Villarreal 2-0 at the Metropolitano. It was a game of few chances, Pablo Barrios and Nico Gonzalez netting the goals.

Probable Lineups & Team News

Liverpool (4-2-3-1) Alisson Becker; Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai; Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo; Hugo Ekitike

Milos Kerkez, Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister and Alexander Isak are not expected to start here but could be options off the bench. Federico Chiesa hasn’t been registered for the Champions League.

Atletico Madrid (4-4-2) Jan Oblak; Marcos Llorente, Robin Le Normand, Clément Lenglet, Matteo Ruggeri; Giuliano Simeone, Pablo Barrios, Conor Gallagher, Nico González; Antoine Griezmann, Alexander Sorloth

José María Giménez, Alex Baena, Thiago Almada and Julián Álvarez are injured. David Hancko, Robin Le Normand and Nico González are doubtful.
