Paris Saint-Germain won the treble last season and went close to taking out the Club World Cup, losing against Chelsea in the final. They met Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to take it to penalties where they won the shootout.

The Parisians have had a perfect start to their Ligue 1 title defence, starting with 1-0 wins at Nantes and against Angers, taking a combined 39-8 shots.

Luis Enrique’s side took a 4-0 lead at Toulouse where they ended up securing a 6-3 victory. João Neves hit a hat-trick and Ousmane Dembélé converted two penalties before they conceded two late goals.

PSG beat Lens 2-0 on Saturday, Vitinha assisting both goals for Bradley Barcola.

Atalanta Form


Atalanta have begun a new era after Gian Piero Gasperini’s nine year spell in charge came to an end. Ivan Juric took over in June and has had three games in charge.

Juric’s side dominated Pisa but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Mario Pasalic scored first at Parma where they failed to close it out, another 1-1 draw for the Bergamo side.

Atalanta bounced back by beating Lecce 4-1 on Sunday. They had 8-3 shots on target, Charles De Ketelaere scoring twice alongside strikes to Giorgio Scalvini and Nicola Zalewski.

Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé have been ruled out through injury. Lucas Beraldo, Kang-in Lee and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are doubtful.

Verdict

PSG have won all four matches in Ligue 1 and are deserved favourites against Atalanta. The Serie A side likely to be chasing the ball for long spells in Paris where a home win is on the cards.
