Nigeria have won both matches at the Africa Cup of Nations, their strong attack coming to the fore. Despite having a spot in the round of 16 guaranteed, I think there is value on the Super Eagles beating Uganda.

Key Stats - Nigeria on Top

  • Uganda have lost 3 of their last 5 matches.
  • Nigeria have won 4 of their 6 matches against Uganda.
  • Nigeria have won 6 of their last 9 competitive matches.

HTH - Super Eagles Lead

Nigeria have a 4-1 advantage against Uganda alongside one draw.

They last met in a friendly in 2018, a 0-0 draw in Abuja.

Uganda set for Early Exit at AFCON

Uganda had a decent World Cup qualifying campaign but couldn’t get it done. They lost twice to Algeria who finished seven points clear at the top of Group G.

Paul Put’s side had one shot on target against Tunisia in their opening match at AFCON. It came in added time, Denis Omedi’s consolation goal coming too late as the lost 3-1 in Rabat.

The Red Devils fell behind against Tanzania with Uche Ikpeazu coming off the bench to equalise. Allan Okello had a chance to put them ahead from the penalty spot, but he blazed over the bar in added time.

Uganda Predicted Line Up & Squad

Uganda (4-4-1-1) Denis Onyango; Kenneth Semakula, Toby Sibbick, Jordan Obita, Aziz Kayondo; Denis Omedi, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Khalid Aucho, Rogers Mato; Travis Mutyaba, Uche Ikpeazu

Denis Omedi and Uche Ikpeazu combined for the equaliser against Tanzania and are expected to start.

Nigeria Finding the Net at AFCON

Nigeria failed to qualify for the World Cup but sneaked into the second round. They secured a 4-1 extra time win over Gabon in the semi-finals but lost to DR Congo in the final, going down in a penalty shootout.

The Super Eagles started AFCON with a 2-1 win against Tanzania. They ended with 59% possession and 11-3 shots on target, Alex Iwobi assisting goals for Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman.

Lookman was influential against Tunisia, assisting Victor Osimhen and Wilfred Ndidi before scoring himself to establish a 3-0 lead. Eric Chelle’s side conceded twice but closed it out to secure a 3-2 victory and a spot in the Round of 16.

Nigeria Predicted Line Up & Squad

Nigeria (4-3-1-2) Stanley Nwabali; Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bruno Onyemaechi; Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi; Ademola Lookman; Moses Simon; Victor Osimhen

Akor Adams could make way for Moses Simon up front with qualification assured.

Verdict

Nigeria have sealed a spot in the knockout rounds after scoring five goals in two games. The Super Eagles have a far stronger squad than Uganda and can make it count in Fez.
