Morocco's football team is poised to continue its dominance over Zambia in their upcoming match, holding a formidable track record of winning their last five encounters. Advanced statistics reflect Morocco's advantage, having won 15 of their last 19 matches, while Zambia struggles with consistency, failing to score in five of their recent games. As they head into this fixture, Morocco remains a favorite, expected to secure a win and a clean sheet, further cementing their position for the knockout rounds in the AFCON tournament.

Morocco have won five straight games against Zambia and are likely to make it six here. The Atlas Lions have a far superior squad and can win this one to nil and advance to the knockout rounds.

Key Stats - Morocco Lead Every Metric

  • Zambia have lost 9 of their last 12 matches.
  • Zambia have failed to score in 5 of their last 9 matches.
  • Morocco have won 15 of their last 19 matches.
  • Morocco have won to nil in 10 of their last 14 matches.

Atlas Lions Dominate HTH

Morocco have won their last five matches against Zambia, the latest coming in September.

It was a 2026 World Cup qualifier, Morocco winning 2-0 in Ndola where Youssef En-Nesyri and Hamza Igamane found the net.

Wins Rare for Zambia

Zambia never went close to qualifying for the World Cup, finishing fourth in group E. Avram Grant’s spell in charge came to an end in October.

Moses Sichone became the new boss and lost all three friendlies in charge. His side have stopped the slide at AFCON, Patson Daka equalising in added time to earn a 1-1 draw against Mali.

Chipolopolo failed to register a shot on target against Comoros but kept it tight and took a 0-0 draw. The result leaves them precariously placed in the race for a spot in the Round of 16.

Morocco Favourites to Win AFCON

Morocco qualified for the World Cup and backed up by winning the Arab Cup. They are unbeaten since August, winning 15 of their last 19 matches.

The Atlas Lions got off to a winning start at AFCON, beating Comoros 2-0 in Rabat. Soufiane Rahimi’s early penalty was saved before goals to Brahim Diaz and Ayoub El Kaabi got it done.

Another Diaz penalty gave Walid Regragui’s side a half-time lead against Mali. They conceded  a penalty of their own and ended the game on top, finishing with 15-5 shots and 2.82-0.91 xG.

Morocco Predicted Line Up & Squad

Morocco (4-3-3) Yassine Bounou; Noussair Mazraoui, Nayef Aguerd, Jawad El Yamiq, Anass Salah-Eddine; Neil El Aynaoui, Oussama Targhalline, Azzedine Ounahi; Brahim Diaz, Youssef En-Nesyri, Eliesse Ben Seghir

Romain Saiss picked up a hamstring injury against Comoros and was replaced by Jawad El Yamiq who should continue in central defence.

Achraf Hakimi continues to recover from an ankle injury, Regragui saying: "Achraf Hakimi is fully fit again after his injury. There is a strong chance he plays against Zambia to get rhythm before the knockouts."

Soufiane Rahimi and Ayoub El Kaabi have started up front with Youssef En-Nesyri set to start here.
