Anisimova Yet to Be Tested in Paris
Amanda Anisimova moved into the third round without spending much energy after Julia Grabher retired with an injury while trailing 0-6. Earlier in the week, Anisimova opened her campaign with a straight-sets win over Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah.
The American arrived in Paris with very little match practice on clay after illness and wrist issues kept her out of action since Miami. As a result, she entered the tournament without playing a clay-court event beforehand.
Before those setbacks, Anisimova put together a solid start to the season, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, the semifinals in Dubai, and the fourth round at both Indian Wells and Miami.
