Victoria Mboko faces Madison Keys in the French Open third round. Mboko has been on a rapid ascent, reaching several tour-level finals and climbing into the Top 10. Although Keys brings more experience with a strong French Open record, recent injuries and a dip in form could hinder her performance. Canadian Keeps Momentum Rolling

Victoria Mboko registered a three-set comeback win over Katerina Siniakova, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, to reach the third round at the French Open. She trailed by a set and a break but raised her level as the match progressed and finished strongly in the decider.

The Canadian missed the early clay events due to illness after Miami and lost her first match on the surface in Madrid. However, she quickly turned things around by reaching her first tour-level clay final in Strasbourg last week, losing to Emma Navarro in the championship match.

Mboko's rise over the last 12 months has been rapid. She has reached eight quarterfinals or better at tour level, including four finals, a run that helped her make her Top 10 debut.

The 18-year-old reached the third round here last year as a qualifier, her first breakthrough result on tour. She lost to Qinwen Zheng in straight sets, but arrives this year with a much higher ranking and stronger results behind her.

Keys Looking to Defend Last Year's Result

Madison Keys defeated Antonia Ruzic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to reach the third round at the French Open. She dropped serve twice but converted four of her nine break-point opportunities during the match.

The American has not been able to match the level she produced in 2025 and has dropped a significant number of ranking points during the first five months of the season. As a result, she is now close to falling outside the Top 20.

Despite the ranking slide and a few injury setbacks, her results have still been respectable. Keys reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, the semifinals in Charleston, quarterfinals in Adelaide and Brisbane, and most recently finished runner-up at the WTA 125 event in Paris.

She owns a 5-3 record in French Open third-round matches and most recently reached the quarterfinals here in 2025.

Verdict

Madison Keys has the experience and quality to win this match, but the thigh injury she sustained in the WTA 125 Paris final could be a concern. That uncertainty gives Victoria Mboko the edge in this clash.
