In an exciting match at the ATP Madrid, World No.1 Jannik Sinner is set to face Benjamin Bonzi. Sinner is on an impressive 17-match winning streak, having won 16 of these in straight sets. As the Italian chases his fifth consecutive Masters title, he remains a formidable force on the court, with a recent rise back to his World No. 1 ranking. Despite Bonzi's promising form, he has historically struggled against top players, suggesting that Sinner might have a relatively easy path to victory in this upcoming match.

Jannik Sinner is back to World No.1 and chasing a fifth straight Masters title. I don’t Benjamin Bonzi to trouble the Italian here, Sinner to win this one in quick time.

Sinner on Top

Jannik Sinner had a disappointing start to the year, losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open semi-finals before a quarter-final defeat to Jakub Mensik in Doha.

The 24-year-old has won all 17 matches since, 16 of those victories coming in straight sets. He won the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami without dropping a set, registering final victories over Daniil Medvedev and Jiri Lehecka.

The Italian regained the World No.1 spot after winning the Monte Carlo Masters. He dropped one set in Monaco, defeating Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 6-3 in the final.

Sinner is attempting to become the first player since 1990 to win five consecutive Masters titles.

Bonzi Making up the Numbers in Madrid

Benjamin Bonzi dropped out of the Top 100 in January and is yet to return. He has played only four main draw matches on the ATP Tour in 2026, going 0-2 against Top 50 players.

The Frenchman was never close to qualifying in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, well beaten in the first qualifiers at both events.

Bonzi managed to qualify in Madrid, a gift of a draw resulting in straight sets wins over Darwin Blanch and Diego Dedura Palomero. He came back to beat World No.113 Titouan Droguet 6-7 7-6 6-4 in the first round.

Verdict

Jannik Sinner is the best player in men’s tennis right now and Benjamin Bonzi can’t get into the Top 100. The World No.1 is set for another comfortable victory in Madrid.
