Match Preview
Little separates these two sides in terms of quality, although Bayern Munich should have the edge in experience. Besiktas are highly motivated to secure their first EuroLeague home victory since 2013.
Besiktas Showing Promise Despite Mixed Results
Besiktas have looked competitive since returning to the elite division after 13 years, securing two victories in five rounds, with both wins interestingly coming on the road.
After narrowly losing their opener to Valencia 96-94, the Black Eagles caused an upset by beating Maccabi Tel Aviv 109-93 on a neutral court in Belgrade. However, they failed to find their rhythm and suffered a convincing 95-82 home loss to Barcelona in the third round.
Last week, Dusan Alimpijevic's side faced Baskonia in Vitoria. They trailed by a couple of points at halftime but ground out a 92-84 victory, shooting an impressive 51%. Scottie Wilbekin was the hero with 24 points.
Earlier this week, Besiktas stood no chance against Hapoel Tel Aviv, suffering a 100-82 defeat on a neutral court in Sofia. Shooting was the only statistical category in which they significantly underperformed compared to their opponents (43% vs 54%). Ante Zizic delivered a strong performance with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Bayern Finding Their Shooting Touch
Bayern Munich have recorded identical results to their upcoming opponents, winning two of their five EuroLeague games, with both victories also coming on the road.
They started their campaign against Hapoel Tel Aviv as underdogs but claimed an 86-84 victory, with veteran Johannes Voigtmann hitting a three-pointer with ten seconds left on the clock.
Duane Washington scored 38 points across Bayern Munich’s next two games, but the German side lost both encounters, falling to Fenerbahce 100-76 in Istanbul and Partizan 86-84 at home after wasting a big lead.
Bayern returned to winning ways earlier this week, taking down Anadolu Efes 101-93 in Turkey. Washington topped the scoring charts once again with 21 points, while Andreas Obst was close behind with 20.

Verdict
If Besiktas can shut down Bayern’s three-point shooting, I think they will claim their first EuroLeague victory in front of their home crowd.
