- Barstool Sports supremo Dave Portnoy bet $600k on Huskies winning
- UConn’s 75-60 victory earned Portnoy $2.76million
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy hailed “the greatest bet of my life” after winning almost $3million betting on college basketball’s National Championship Game.
UConn successfully completed their mission to win back-to-back titles on Monday night, and the Huskies were not the only ones celebrating.
Portnoy placed a $600,000 bet on them winning the tournament back on March 20, at odds of 3.6/1.
He needed them to win six straight games for the bet to be successful, and they obliged with a string of dominant displays that culminated in a 75-60 win over Purdue.
That victory earned Portnoy $2.76million, with DraftKings confirming it had been the sportsbook that took the bet.
“The greatest bet of my life,” Portnoy wrote on his X account.
“Thank you UConn. Destroyed everybody and everything in their path. They'd win the tournament 100 out of 100 times.
“The biggest win of my life by a mile.”
