Punter turns £1 into £110,880 thanks to Frankie Dettori six-timer

Dettori is famous for his "Magnificent Seven" at Ascot, and despite moving to California to finish his career in the United States he is still reeling off the winners.

On Saturday at Santa Anita, Dettori rolled back the years as he rode six consecutive winners and it was much to the delight of a Ladbrokes punter. 

The punter backed the six winners at odds of 11/4, 6/1, 12/1, 9/2, 10/1 and 10/3, placing a £1 accumulator bet for a massive return.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “We thought the Frankie Dettori nightmares had ended when he hung up his whip in Britain, but how wrong were we. 

"The Dettori drama came crashing back in California when he rode an astonishing six-timer. 

"There were a lot of happy customers, no more so that one particular punter who scooped a whopping £110,880 from a £1 bet. It was a costly night, but we can thank our lucky stars that it wasn’t worse.”

Dettori rode in 11 of the 12 races and bookmakers were relieved when his even money favourite mount Imagination was defeated in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby.
