Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) defends his WBC world welterweight championship against British star Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, September 12.

‘King Ry’ – a former interim lightweight champion – suffered the first defeat of his professional career when he was knocked out by Gervonta Davis in April 2023, and despite rebounding to stop Oscar Duarte later that year, his career took a nose-dive over the next couple of years.
Not only did he fail to make weight for a fight with Devin Haney, costing himself a world title shot, but he also failed a post-fight drug test that resulted in his majority decision win being overturned to a No Contest. When he finally returned to the ring a year later, he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Rolando Romero to see his stock drop even further.
Garcia got back on track in February though, dropping Barrios and dominating him for 12 rounds to claim the vacant WBC welterweight crown, and he will now look to follow that up with a victory at the expense of Benn.
The British fighter – son of boxing legend Nigel – scored the biggest win of his career last November as he avenged a loss to bitter rival Chris Eubank Jr – the son of his father’s biggest in-ring rival.
Following that victory he made the stunning decision to ditch Matchroom Boxing and sign with upstart boxing promotion, Zuffa Boxing, and in his debut for his new promoters he beat former two-time super-lightweight world champion Regis Prograis in a catchweight contest.
Benn now drops down to welterweight as he seeks his first world title, but can the British fighter finally reach the summit, or will Garcia enjoy a successful first defence of his first world championship reign?
