This will be the first time that Charlie Manby and Gian van Veen have played each other in the PDC.

Charlie Manby Form

Charlie Manby has been one of the surprise packages of this year's World Championships. The 20-year-old, who had only played in three senior floor events prior to this tournament, got the better of Cameron Menzies in his opening match, before thrashing American qualifier Adam Sevada 3-0 in Round 2.

"Champagne" then overpowered Ricky Evans to book his spot in the fourth round. Neither player played particularly well in what turned out to be a nervy clash, but Manby was delighted when he sealed a 4-2 victory - despite hitting just 25% of his darts at a double.

Gian van Veen Form

Gian van Veen came into the World Championships in the form of his life, having beaten Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries in the European Championship Finals. The two-time World Youth Champion got the better of Cristo Reyes in his opening match, before averaging 108 in a 3-1 victory over Alan Soutar.

After his third round victory over Madars Razma, "The Giant" said he didn't play well and he didn't like how his darts were sitting in the board. Yet, the tenth seed averaged over 100 in sets two, three and five as he sealed a comfortable 4-1 victory. Van Veen now looks at home on the World Championship stage, and his A-Game is a match for anyone.

Verdict

These two exciting young players have yet to face each other on tour. Interestingly, GIAN VAN VEEN said after averaging 108 against Alan Soutar that he'd practised with Manby that afternoon, and "Champagne" had smashed him off the board.

The 20-year-old hasn't had to be at his sparkling best to get past experienced opponents like Cameron Menzies and Ricky Evans, and playing someone of van Veen's age and quality could bring out the best in "Champagne". Yet, Van Veen is playing like one of the best players in the world at the moment, and he won't want to let his young opponent gather any momentum in their Round 4 clash.

I'm going to back Van Veen to win what could be a high-scoring match 4-1. Over 14.5 Total 180s looks good value at 6/4 too.
